Position Summary
SOFFA is a well-established systems integration firm with over 50 years of experience delivering automation and control solutions within the water and wastewater industry. We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to manage time-and-materials (T&M) projects and support our Project Managers and PMO team in delivering projects on schedule and within budget.
The Assistant Project Manager coordinates day-to-day project activities across departments, tracks submittals, RFIs, change orders, and procurement, and maintains accurate project documentation from start through closeout. This role is an excellent opportunity to build project management experience within a collaborative, established team.
CAPM certification is preferred for this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Project manage time-and-materials (T&M) projects.
- Coordinate project activities to ensure timely completion and adherence to budget.
- Provide cross-departmental coordination, including submittal, RFI, change order, and procurement tracking.
- Coordinate with the scheduling team, providing updates on key project deliverables.
- Prepare and send monthly RFI and Change Order reports to Project Managers.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and records.
- Coordinate project closeout documentation.
- Support the PMO team with daily tasks as needed.
- Foster a collaborative and productive team environment.
Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience as an Assistant Project Manager, preferably in construction.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline preferred; or equivalent experience.
Certification
- Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) — preferred.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- General working environment - sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is primarily conducted indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning. Occasional visits to SOFFA manufacturing locations.
- Noise level is typically low to medium in office; it can be loud in manufacturing facilities.
