About The Role:

We are looking for a Senior Java Backend Technical Team Lead who combines deep hands-on engineering expertise with the ability to guide a high-performing development team. In this role, you will design, build, and scale modern distributed systems, software infrastructure, and shared backend services that support multiple development teams and business-critical, high-availability products. You will remain close to the code while leading technical design, mentoring engineers, setting engineering standards, and taking end-to-end ownership of delivery- from architecture and implementation through testing, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing production support.

You will directly influence architecture, code quality, delivery practices, and team effectiveness while contributing hands-on to systems that support reliable product delivery at scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and hands-on implementation of scalable APIs, distributed systems, and backend services that power high-availability applications.
• Own the full software development lifecycle, from architecture and technical design through implementation, automated testing, deployment, monitoring, and long-term production support.
• Maintain and optimize systems for performance, scalability, security, and reliability at scale.
• Collaborate closely with product owners, designers, QA engineers, and developers to translate business goals into scalable, maintainable technical solutions.
• Provide technical leadership through hands-on coding, code reviews, architecture guidance, design discussions, mentoring, task breakdown, and consistent engineering best practices.
• Set and uphold technical excellence and production-readiness standards, including clean architecture, resilient design, quality gates, release discipline, operational ownership, and pragmatic technical decision-making.
• Design and evolve event-driven architectures and asynchronous integrations using Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, and related messaging patterns, while improving shared libraries, internal platforms, developer tooling, CI/CD workflows, and observability solutions.
• Promote responsible AI adoption across development and SDLC activities, using AI-assisted tools to improve code quality, testing, documentation, productivity, and delivery predictability.

Required Experience and Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend development experience with strong expertise in Java and object-oriented design, including at least 2–3 years in a technical lead or team lead role.
• Advanced practical experience with Spring Boot and the Spring ecosystem, including building RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Solid knowledge of design patterns, system architecture, distributed systems, and scalability principles.
• Hands-on experience with databases (SQL/NoSQL) and message-driven systems using Apache Kafka and RabbitMQ, including producers, consumers, topics, retries, dead-letter handling, and idempotent processing.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms.
• Comfortable with automated testing, including unit, integration, and performance testing.
• Demonstrated experience building, operating, troubleshooting, and continuously improving production-grade, high-load systems.
• Strong focus on technical excellence, production readiness, observability, monitoring, alerting, and building shared development infrastructure and services that improve engineering effectiveness across multiple teams and products.
• Thrive in a dynamic, fast-changing environment with shifting priorities.
• Strong communicator and hands-on team lead with a proactive, ownership-driven mindset and the ability to align engineers around technical direction, delivery priorities, and engineering quality.
• Experienced in applying AI-assisted development practices across the SDLC, including code generation, review support, automated test creation, documentation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of engineering workflows.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Preferred qualifications include experience with cloud-native architectures, microservices, event and message schema evolution, delivery guarantees, distributed transaction patterns, observability platforms, incident response practices, and performance tuning for distributed systems.
