We are looking for a Spring 2027 (January – May or August) Automation Project Manager Co-op as part of the Operations Leadership Development Program with our Smart Infrastructure Electrical Products division. This position is based in Grand Prairie, Texas.
This co-op will prepare you for a potential opportunity with our two-year rotational Operations Leadership Development Program and other entry-level roles upon graduation.
You’ll make an impact by:
- Supporting automation projects from planning through execution, delivering technical solutions that support manufacturing operations.
- Defining project requirements, timelines, and deliverables while coordinating across engineering, IT, operations, vendors, and leadership.
- Driving cross-functional alignment by identifying roadblocks, managing dependencies, and coordinating stakeholders to keep projects on track.
- Leading project communication and documentation, including meetings, status updates, technical documentation, and system requirements.
- Developing and improve project management processes in alignment with LEAN strategies and site priorities.
- Supporting technology implementation and systems integration across automation, controls, robotics, manufacturing, and data systems.
- Tracking project budgets, forecasts, and resources while supporting CAPEX, procurement, and business case activities.
- Building technical and business knowledge through hands-on exposure to automation technologies, systems engineering, and project execution.
You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
- Juniors, seniors, and graduate students pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Industrial Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related majors
- Must be enrolled as a student at the University of Texas Arlington at the time of the co-op
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite for data analysis, reporting, and documentation
- Basic knowledge or foundational understanding of industrial engineering tools and systems engineering
- Available to work 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm) from January 2027 to May 2027 or August 2027
- Eligible candidates must have reliable transportation and be located within 50 miles of Grand Prairie, TX as this role does not provide housing or relocation support
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
- This internship/co-op is a structured experiential learning program for individuals currently enrolled in a degree or certificate program who will continue their studies following the assignment. Current and continuing enrollment is a condition of participation. Applicants who have completed or expect to complete their educational program before or during the assignment period are encouraged to explore our Early Career/ Leadership Development opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated understanding of engineering, manufacturing, automation, or technical systems.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with an ability to identify opportunities for process and operational improvement.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills across technical and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, or technical initiatives.
- Familiarity with interpreting engineering drawings, technical documentation, and data.
- Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing, continuous improvement, or process standardization principles.
- Exposure to automation, robotics, controls, or emerging manufacturing technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and communicate with leadership.
- Foundational knowledge of statistics, project planning, budgeting, or financial concepts.
- Strong technical writing skills with the ability to document processes, requirements, and solutions.

You’ll Benefit From The hourly pay range for this position 30.00 - 33.00 per hour, based off of your projected graduation year. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location. Additionally, interns for Siemens are eligible to contribute into our 401K program.
