Full description

As a Lead Business Analyst in Core Banking, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping complex change at the heart of Nationwide. You’ll help ensure the technology and processes underpinning our core banking services continue to meet the needs of our customers and the Society.

This is an influential leadership role where you’ll shape significant programmes of work, provide expert Business Analysis leadership and ensure high-quality analysis across your area. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders and delivery teams, bringing clarity to complex problems, challenging thinking and helping teams make informed decisions that deliver the right business and customer outcomes.

Alongside leading change, you’ll lead, coach and develop a team of Business Analysts, setting high standards and creating an environment where people can grow and perform at their best. You’ll also help shape and continuously improve how Business Analysis is delivered across Core Banking, giving you the opportunity to influence both the change we deliver and the capability of our Business Analysis community.

We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.

For this role, you'll be based at your nearest regional office or hub. We value time spent together to connect with colleagues for collaboration so there will be a regular requirement to attend our Swindon site approximately once per month. If you are based at an office location, you'll be expected to meet our hybrid working requirement of at least two days a week, or 40% of your working time if part-time, in the office. If you’re based at our Glasgow office, this will apply from 1 April 2027 and ahead of that there will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration events. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works.

Nationwide is committed to the redeployment of our employees impacted by change, as such applications for redeployment candidates will be prioritised in this recruitment process. If you’re a colleague on long-term absence (for example, on parental leave) or a temporary worker, please use your personal email address to submit an application.

Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing

You’ll take the lead on business analysis across large and complex change, shaping initiatives from the outset and helping teams turn ambiguity into clear outcomes and direction. You’ll work with senior stakeholders and delivery teams to challenge thinking, solve problems and make sure requirements are clear, high quality and aligned to business priorities. You’ll lead, coach and develop Business Analysts across your area, creating a collaborative culture with high standards and clear accountability. You’ll also influence how business analysis is delivered, improving ways of working and ensuring it adds value throughout the delivery lifecycle.

About you

You will be someone who:

  • Significant Business Analysis experience, operating at Senior Business Analyst level or above, with experience of leading analysis across large and complex change
  • Proven experience shaping complex change from an early stage, taking ambiguous business problems and turning them into clear requirements, outcomes and a structured approach to delivery
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with experience of breaking down complex issues, identifying root causes and using evidence and insight to develop clear recommendations
  • Proven experience influencing senior stakeholders and working across multiple teams, with the ability to challenge constructively, build consensus and translate complex technical concepts into clear business conversations
  • Strong knowledge and practical application of Business Analysis methods and techniques, with experience selecting and applying the right approach across different stages of the change lifecycle
  • Proven leadership and people-development experience, including coaching and mentoring Business Analysts, setting clear expectations, providing constructive feedback and supporting individuals to improve their capability and performance

Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to display, in every role:

  • Feel what customers feel - We step into our customers’ shoes, using their feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs, so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind
  • Say it straight - We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think – we’re honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand
  • Push for better - We don’t settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development
  • Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes

You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
