Senior IOS Engineer

Description

We are looking for a highly skilled iOS/tvOS Developer to join our team and take a leading role in building and enhancing our OTT video streaming applications. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and optimize a custom video player experience for both iOS and tvOS, leveraging AVPlayer and related media frameworks. You will collaborate closely with product, design, and backend engineering teams to deliver a seamless, high-performance user experience.

What you'll be doing:

  • Design, develop, and maintain OTT streaming applications for iOS and tvOS using Swift.
  • Build and optimize a custom AVPlayer-based video player, including playback controls, UI layers, gesture handling, and state management.
  • Implement features such as Multiview, DRM, subtitles/closed captions, adaptive bitrate streaming (HLS), and background playback.
  • Collaborate with UI/UX designers to create intuitive and visually polished user interfaces.
  • Integrate with backend APIs for content catalog, analytics, and player events.
  • Ensure high performance, low memory usage, and smooth playback on both iOS and tvOS devices.
  • Debug and resolve complex playback issues, buffering/latency problems, and platform-specific behaviors.
  • Write clean, maintainable code following best architectural practices.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving overall engineering standards.
  • Stay up to date with Apple platform updates, new APIs, and best practices.

What you'll bring:

  • 5–7+ years of professional experience in Swift development.
  • Strong expertise with AVPlayer, AVFoundation, HLS streaming, and media playback architecture.
  • Proven experience building and releasing iOS and/or tvOS applications.
  • Solid understanding of UI frameworks (UIKit; SwiftUI is a plus).
  • Experience with performance optimization, memory profiling, and debugging tools (Instruments, Console, etc.).
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON parsing, and networking frameworks (URLSession, Combine, etc.).
  • Experience implementing subtitles, DRM (FairPlay), and custom playback logic.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
