BUSUP

BUSUP is a global corporate mobility company helping organizations rethink how their people get to work. Through a technology-driven, asset-light model, we combine data, AI-powered route optimization, operational expertise, and a trusted network of local transport operators to make employee commuting more efficient, flexible, and sustainable.

We partner with large companies across Europe, Latin America, and North America to design, manage, and continuously improve shared mobility solutions that reduce costs, lower emissions, and create a better commuting experience for employees. At BUSUP, we believe the future of corporate mobility is smarter, more connected, and built around people, helping companies move their teams with greater efficiency, visibility, and impact.

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead one of our product development teams. You will lead a development line end to end —people, delivery, quality and maintenance of its product— so that it delivers robust, maintainable software predictably and on time, with increasing autonomy from the CTO.

You will work alongside Product, QA and Operations, supported by a Tech Lead and a Platform Engineer dedicated to your line, reporting to the CTO (or to the Head of Engineering, once that role is in place).

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and develop a team of 4 to 8 engineers distributed across several countries: 1:1s, goals, feedback, performance reviews, career growth and hiring.
  • Own sprint delivery and predictability, balancing new features and maintenance of the line's product, and agree the line's quarterly objectives with Product.
  • Ensure the Tech Lead and developers break every user story down into technical tasks before sprint planning, and review that the breakdown covers the acceptance criteria, follows IT best practices, identifies dependencies and fits the team's capacity.
  • Validate technical designs and implementation plans with the Tech Lead, and take part in design and code reviews.
  • Ensure quality together with QA and the Tech Lead: acceptance criteria, code review standards, bug triage by impact and urgency, coordination of critical incidents and technical debt management.
  • Analyze the root cause of recurring bugs, validate release readiness (documentation, monitoring and support) and monitor stability and performance after deployment.
  • Act as the technical counterpart of markets and internal departments for your line's product: understand how they operate with it, respond to their technical issues and requests, and communicate status and risks in business terms. Product remains the owner of requirements and priorities.
  • Assess client requests within agreed timelines and communicate scope, risks and dates.
  • Measure and report the team's delivery, quality and team-health indicators to the Head of engineering or CTO.

WHAT YOU BRING

Previous Experience:

  • 7+ years of software development experience, including at least 3 years directly managing engineering teams.
  • Proven track record improving a team's delivery predictability and quality.
  • Solid technical background in backend web development (ideally PHP/Laravel) and relational databases, enough to discuss architecture and review code.
  • Experience managing product development and maintenance of a production system at the same time.
  • Experience leading remote teams distributed across several countries and time zones.
  • Strong command of agile methodologies (Scrum) and tools such as Jira.
  • Excellent communication skills with technical and business stakeholders, including markets and internal departments.
  • Fluent Portuguese and professional English (English is the working language of our development teams). Spanish is a plus.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in B2B SaaS, mobility, transportation or logistics.
  • Experience leading teams with mobile profiles (iOS, Android or Kotlin Multiplatform).
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform and legacy system modernization.
  • Experience working with DORA metrics and coordinating external development vendors.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • A role with real impact on a product used daily by passengers, drivers and operators in several countries.
  • Autonomy to shape your team and how it works.
  • A career path in the engineering management track.
  • An international, growing environment.

BUSUP BENEFITS🎁

  • Hybrid work: (2 days in-office, 3 days remote)
  • Meal & transportation vouchers
  • Health insurance: 50% of the cost covered by the company.
  • Gympass: Access to fitness and wellness services.
  • Conexa Saúde: Access to specialist support, including nutrition and psychological services.
  • Company laptop: Standard company-issued laptop and all necessary software licenses.
  • Birthday Day Off: Half a day off on your birthday.
  • Annual leave: In accordance with Brazilian labor law (CLT).
  • Culture of autonomy & accountability: A work environment that encourages ownership, autonomy, and continuous feedback.
  • Purpose-driven culture: A strong focus on our values, mission, and positive impact.

If you believe you match these values, we look forward to meeting you! 💚
