JOB SUMMARY Join Marriott’s Android Platform Team and help shape the future of the Marriott Bonvoy app. Work alongside senior engineering, product, UX, and QA leaders to deliver innovative mobile experiences at scale. Lead the design, development, and implementation of platform capabilities that support both developers and users. Serve as a technical expert, solving complex challenges and driving high-impact initiatives from concept to delivery. CANDIDATE PROFILE Education and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience or certification.
- 6+ years of software development experience, including expert-level proficiency in multiple programming languages and development methodologies.
- 5+ years of hands-on native Android application development experience using Kotlin, Java, Android frameworks, and associated tools.
Preferred
- Experience architecting and delivering applications for large, critical user bases using modern Android architecture components, Jetpack Compose, and MVVM or MVI patterns.
- Experience with Android quality, data, and integration technologies, including Coroutines or RxJava, Room or SQLite, REST or GraphQL services, unit testing, Espresso, analytics, crash reporting, and third-party SDKs.
- Experience with Agile and DevOps practices, Google Play publishing, service-provider collaboration, and communicating complex technical concepts in clear business terms.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
- Leads complex Android application research, analysis, architecture, design, development, testing, and implementation to meet current and future user requirements.
- Serves as a technical expert within the product team or squad and makes decisions on complex, non-routine engineering and service-delivery issues.
- Defines next-generation mobile solutions using current and emerging Android technologies to create measurable business value.
- Guides the use of modern Android architecture components, development patterns, concurrency techniques, data storage, networking, and integration frameworks.
- Validates that requirements are complete before solutioning begins and provides consultation on routine and complex systems-development needs.
- Performs quantitative and qualitative analysis to improve engineering and service-delivery processes.
- Coordinates with product, operations, infrastructure, IT, vendor-relations, and other partner teams for delivery, deployment, and production-support activities.
- Reviews service-provider work estimates for accuracy and monitors delivery outcomes against scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
- Identifies delivery risks and provides early warning to business stakeholders when service levels or commitments may be degraded or missed.
- Facilitates timely resolution of service-delivery and production problems while minimizing client and customer impact.
- Mentors engineers and peers, shares technical knowledge, and supports the development of team capabilities.
- Identifies opportunities to improve engineering practices, service-delivery processes, resource utilization, and operational risk management.
