The Network Engineer will design, configure, and maintain industrial copper and fibre-optic network infrastructure to ensure reliable OT communications. They will also perform network diagnostics, troubleshoot hardware and connectivity issues, and implement cybersecurity controls in accordance with IEC 62443 standards.

INTECH Process Automation is seeking a seasoned Network Engineer to join our Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team, responsible for the design, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability of industrial copper and fibre-optic network infrastructure. The role supports managed switches, VLANs, routing, redundancy, OT protocols, network security, configuration backups, and network documentation to ensure reliable and secure OT communications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial copper and fibre-optic network infrastructure.
- Configure and maintain managed switches, VLANs, routing, redundancy, ports, and network services.
- Perform network diagnostics, fault isolation, connectivity testing, and performance monitoring.
- Maintain industrial Ethernet, fibre-optic links, patch panels, media converters, and network cabinets.
- Troubleshoot network communication failures, link faults, packet loss, latency, and hardware issues.
- Support OT protocols and communication interfaces used by DCS, SIS, PLC, SCADA, ICSS, and other industrial systems.
- Maintain network configuration backups, software/firmware versions, and approved configuration baselines.
- Review and implement authorized network configuration changes under MOC/change-control procedures.
- Maintain accurate network topology, IP addressing, VLAN, port, cable, fibre, and equipment records.
- Support network redundancy, failover testing, commissioning, system upgrades, and post-maintenance verification.
- Apply IEC 62443 principles, network segmentation, access controls, and applicable OT cybersecurity requirements.
- Perform RCA of recurring network failures and recommend reliability and performance improvements.
- Coordinate with ICSS, Instrumentation, IT/OT, Operations, Engineering, Cybersecurity, and OEM/vendor teams.
- Maintain test results, network records, configuration backups, failure reports, and CMMS documentation.
- Ensure compliance with PTW, LOTO, HSE, cybersecurity, MOC, and site requirements.
Requirements
To Be Successful in This Role, You Must Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Control, Electronics, Electrical, Computer, Telecommunications Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant oil & gas experience, including at least 3 years in industrial/OT networking.
- Strong experience with industrial copper and fibre-optic networks and structured network infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience with managed switches, VLANs, routing, redundancy, port configuration, and network diagnostics.
- Knowledge of industrial Ethernet, fibre-optic systems, patch panels, media converters, and network cabinets.
- Experience troubleshooting connectivity, communication, packet loss, latency, link, and hardware faults.
- Knowledge of OT protocols and interfaces used with DCS, SIS, PLC, SCADA, and ICSS systems.
- Experience with configuration backup/restore, firmware management, version control, and configuration baselines.
- Strong understanding of network topology, IP addressing, VLANs, port mapping, and network documentation.
- Knowledge of IEC 62443, OT network segmentation, cybersecurity controls, and secure network practices.
- Experience with commissioning, redundancy/failover testing, upgrades, and controlled network changes.
- Strong troubleshooting, RCA, technical documentation, and CMMS skills.
- Relevant Cisco/industrial networking, IEC 62443, or OEM certification/training is highly desirable.
