Full description

Client: US fintech (ledger and money movement platform) · Location: remote, LATAM, US Eastern overlap · Level: staff · Engagement: full-time contractor

You will be the technical lead for the core ledger and payment services written in Go, setting architecture across several teams while still shipping code.

What you will do

  • Own the design of the double-entry ledger and money movement services, with correctness and idempotency as first principles
  • Lead cross-team technical initiatives from RFC to rollout
  • Write and review Go for high-throughput, low-latency services using gRPC, Kafka and PostgreSQL
  • Define standards for testing, observability and failure handling in distributed transactions
  • Integrate with banking partners and payment rails (ACH, RTP, FedNow, card networks)
  • Mentor senior engineers and raise the hiring bar

What you bring

  • 10+ years of backend engineering, 5+ in Go in production
  • Staff-level scope: has led architecture across multiple teams
  • Deep distributed systems knowledge: consistency, sagas, exactly-once semantics, event sourcing
  • Strong PostgreSQL and data modeling for financial records
  • Experience in payments, banking or another domain where data correctness is critical
  • Excellent written and spoken English

Nice to have

  • Direct ledger or core banking build experience
  • Kubernetes and AWS operations background
  • Familiarity with PCI DSS, SOC 2 and audit requirements
