We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Director, DevOps / Full Stack Engineering to join our Markets Engineering team in Lake Mary, FL.
This role will lead engineering and platform delivery for a critical service within BNY’s Global Collateral platform. The position is approximately 50% hands-on software development, including the use of AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate design, coding, testing, and delivery, and 50% cloud/platform architecture and DevOps leadership focused on building, scaling, securing, operating resilient cloud-hosted solutions.
This role is designed for a highly experienced technology leader who combines deep hands-on development expertise with strong cloud architecture and platform engineering capabilities. This individual will have end-to-end accountability for technical delivery, platform evolution, and operational readiness. They will partner across engineering, infrastructure, public cloud providers, security, production support, and governance teams to ensure the platform is resilient, scalable, secure, and aligned with business-critical requirements.
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
- Serve as a senior hands-on engineer contributing directly to application design, coding, review, and modernization efforts.
- Develop and enhance full stack solutions using Java, SQL, and Angular across business-critical applications and services. Use AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate software design, development, testing, and delivery while maintaining strong engineering quality standards.
- Partner with product and platform stakeholders to translate complex business and operational requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Own the target-state architecture for the service in the public cloud, including infrastructure, application hosting patterns, scaling, resiliency, and operational support models.
- Define and implement the right cloud-native components and platform services to modernize the current application stack and improve reliability, efficiency, and scalability.
- Lead decisions on proper sizing, scaling, capacity planning, and performance optimization for cloud-hosted solutions.
- Establish and refine CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, environment management, and release controls.
- Partner directly with public cloud providers and internal infrastructure teams to optimize architecture, service consumption, scalability, and operational resilience.
- Drive a DevOps culture with strong ownership of build, deployment, release automation, monitoring, incident readiness, and continuous improvement.
- Improve platform observability through metrics, logging, alerting, and health monitoring.
- Champion reliability engineering principles, including fault tolerance, disaster recovery, and high availability design.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
- Advanced degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required.
- 12 + years of experience in systems analysis and program development with related supervisory, management and administrative experience required; experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
- Extensive hands-on experience in full stack software engineering with strong expertise in Java, SQL, and Angular.
- Deep knowledge of cloud-hosted solutions and experience architecting, deploying, and supporting enterprise-scale services in one or more major public cloud environments.
- Strong experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD, infrastructure automation, observability, and production support models.
- Experience modernizing existing applications to leverage cloud-native or cloud-aligned services and platform components.
- Demonstrated ability to work directly with cloud vendors and internal enterprise teams across architecture, security, connectivity, governance, and service operations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across engineering and support organizations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting or transforming financial services or other highly regulated enterprise platforms.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted software development practices and tools.
- Experience with hybrid connectivity, cloud security controls, and highly available distributed systems.
- Experience leading platform engineering or large-scale engineering transformation initiatives.

Base salary offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
