About the role
Lead the design, development, and maintenance of embedded firmware for SIO and EC products in enterprise PC platforms. Act as the primary technical authority while collaborating with hardware teams and customers to resolve complex firmware and silicon-level issues.
What they look for
Requirements
Requires extensive experience in firmware architecture, C programming, and bare-metal or RTOS environments. Candidates must demonstrate expertise in hardware-software interaction, security mechanisms, and technical leadership for complex engineering projects.
Full description
- Lead firmware engineers and responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of embedded firmware and software for Super I/O (SIO) and Embedded Controller (EC) chip products used in enterprise-class PC platforms, including desktops, workstations, notebooks, and all-in-one systems.
- Oversee and contribute hands-on to the firmware architecture and software design for multiple generations of SIO and EC products, including boot flow, low-level drivers, system services, and firmware frameworks.
- Lead the definition and implementation of complex firmware features such as thermal monitoring, fan control, power management, and hardware-software interaction mechanisms, including algorithms that combine firmware logic with silicon capabilities.
- Act as the primary technical authority for SIO and EC firmware, performing design reviews, code reviews, and architectural assessments to ensure correctness, performance, security, and maintainability.
- Develop firmware primarily in C, with direct involvement in bare-metal and RTOS-based environments, and support integration with system BIOS and platform firmware.
- Collaborate closely with hardware teams, validation teams, and global customers to define requirements, analyze technical constraints, and develop customer-specific firmware features and solutions.
- Serve as a key interface with strategic customers to troubleshoot complex firmware and silicon-related issues, analyze root causes, and deliver corrective actions.
- Design and implement security-related firmware functionality, including cryptographic mechanisms, secure boot flows, and device identity features for products used as part of platform security and Root of Trust solutions. Support proof-of-concept activities for new technologies and future product directions.
- Debug complex firmware, hardware, and system-level issues using hardware and software debugging tools, and guide engineering teams in the resolution of critical customer escalations.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to firmware engineers to support consistent implementation practices and successful project execution.
