About us
We're an independent European digital product studio with a strong track record of delivering market-defining strategies and products for enterprises and governments. With about 200 talented people across three countries, premium AI capabilities and a diverse portfolio of international clients, we define, design and ship high-quality digital products, strategies and software. From global cloud-based platforms and large-scale apps to medical devices, banking software and augmented reality experiences. In a nutshell: if it lives and breathes digital, it’s what we do best.
Become a part of our team
At In The Pocket, you join a multidisciplinary team of designers, engineers, strategists and data specialists who care about the work as much as the people they work with. We work in small, autonomous teams that stay close to our clients and their users, and we give everyone the space to take ownership, speak up and grow. You’ll learn from colleagues across our studios, ship products that reach thousands or even millions of people and help shape what digital can do for leading organisations in Europe.
What you’ll do
In this role, you'll build and maintain the backend services that power our applications. You'll work closely with senior engineers, frontend engineers and DevOps colleagues, who will support you as you take on more ownership and grow your technical skills.
- Build and maintain backend APIs in TypeScript and Node.js, following secure and clean coding practices.
- Contribute to cloud infrastructure on AWS, with guidance from more experienced colleagues.
- Work with infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines to help automate deployments.
- Apply security best practices (OWASP) in your daily work.
- Investigate, debug and fix backend issues, and learn how to tackle more complex ones over time.
- Write tests and take part in code reviews, both giving and receiving feedback.
- Use AI tools (e.g. Claude, Codex) in your development workflow to write code, support reviews and work more efficiently.
- Keep learning: stay curious about new backend and cloud technologies and share what you learn with the team.
Who you are
- Solid knowledge of TypeScript and Node.js (2+ years of experience).
- Experience building REST or GraphQL APIs.
- Hands-on experience with at least one relational or NoSQL database (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis).
- Familiarity with Docker; exposure to Kubernetes is a plus.
- Some experience with a cloud platform, ideally AWS, or a strong motivation to learn it.
- Basic understanding of authentication concepts (e.g. OAuth, OpenID Connect).
- Awareness of security best practices (OWASP) and testing.
- Interest in, or some exposure to, messaging systems (e.g. SQS, SNS, RabbitMQ, Kafka) and DevOps practices like CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code.
- Good problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Eagerness to learn, take feedback and grow toward more ownership.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
- You use AI tools (e.g. Claude, Codex) to support your daily development work.
- You communicate fluently in English.
What we offer

- You’ll have a mobility budget that lets you decide how to get around, your way.
