About the role
The role involves defining and validating vehicle cybersecurity requirements and managing FOTA requirements for vehicle ECUs through telematics controllers. It also includes institutionalizing cybersecurity organizational processes and coordinating standards for vehicle cybersecurity and OTA updates.

Full description
- Strong Experience of securing telematics systems and over-the-air (OTA) updates.
- Strong experience in Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment (TARA). Experience in conducting threat analysis and risk assessments specific to automotive systems. Ability to identify, evaluate, and mitigate cybersecurity risks in vehicle networks and systems.
- Deep understanding of Automotive Cybersecurity Standards and Protocols such as ISO/SAE 21434, SAE J3061.
- Understanding of ISO26262, AUTOSAR, and MISRA
- Understanding of automotive communication protocols like CAN, LIN, FlexRay, and Ethernet. Understanding of MQTT, TCP/IP and other communication protocols used for telemetry.
- Strong Experience of diagnostics protocols like UDS (Unified Diagnostic Services).
- Knowledge of network security principles and practices.
- Experience with secure communication protocols, encryption, and key management.
- Experience with system-level debugging and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in Embedded systems security used in vehicles.
- Knowledge of hardware security mechanisms, secure boot, and trusted execution environments (TEEs).
- Strong experience in Penetration Testing and Vulnerability Assessment: Experience in performing penetration testing on automotive systems. Familiarity with tools and techniques for vulnerability assessment
- Understanding of wireless communication technologies (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LTE) used in vehicles.
- Knowledge of IoT architectures and protocols. Experience in designing and implementing IoT solutions that connect automotive gateways to cloud infrastructure.
- Knowledge of cloud security best practices, identity and access management (IAM), and compliance requirements.
- Conception, identification and piloting of new methods, tools and processes for technology and product development through industry benchmarking and evaluation
- Nurture futuristic capabilities- Facilitate ideation workshops (design thinking, brain storming sessions) to build cybersecurity competencies.
- Deepen Practice with PoC/ PoV, Whitepaper and Business case doc on growth and sustenance of new verticals. Assist in preparation of Board /Opcom presentation documents for relevant approvals.
Strategic visioning – Assist in evaluation of proposals, technologies, creation of product roadmap aligned to Business vision, chalking out strategy for momentum and bending the curve.
Responsibilities
- Implementation of Cybersecurity both at telematics component level & Vehicle level with full documentation for AIS 189 and 190 compliance.
- Attack paths identification, TARA, Risk assessment score, Pen testing, validation activities either self or with support from different stakeholders.
- Implementation of end to end process for CSMS & SUMS as per Daimler internal requirement
Qualifications
- BE/ME with upto 8 years of experience & Knowledge of the Cybersecurity.
- Knowledge of the automotive market and industry-wide best practices.
- Certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or specific automotive cybersecurity certifications like ISO/SAE 21434
- Strong understanding of automotive cybersecurity requirements.
- Entrepreneurial thinking and ability to work with a varying level of ambiguity and uncertainty.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills; proven ability to think strategically.
- Adept at managing key stakeholders (internal and external), working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment; confidence/ability to work with senior stakeholders.
- Proactive approach, entrepreneurial mindset and comfort with ambiguity
- Basic experience in Technology Development and Product Development and Leadership and project sponsor outreach
