Senior Python Engineer

At the core of the role

In Sofia, Bulgaria we are actively seeking a Senior Python Engineer to strengthen our team dedicated to a project in Information Technology auditing, consulting, and software development industry domain.

The work is hybrid, and the suitable candidate can work from the client's office in Sofia approximately 1-2 days per week or biweekly.

Core skills you’ll bring

• 5+ years of professional software development experience, with strong hands-on expertise in Python.

• Advanced knowledge of Python, including object-oriented programming, asynchronous programming, and modern language features.

• Strong experience with Python frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask.

• Proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful APIs and backend services.

• Solid understanding of software design principles, design patterns, and clean architecture.

• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.

• Familiarity with NoSQL databases and caching solutions such as MongoDB or Redis.

• Experience with ORMs such as SQLAlchemy or Django ORM.

• Strong understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and service-oriented architecture.

• Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development workflows.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

• Strong knowledge of automated testing using tools such as Pytest or unittest.

• Experience with Git and collaborative software development practices.

• Understanding of application security, performance optimization, logging, and error handling.

• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to make independent technical decisions and take ownership of complex development tasks.

• Good English communication skills and experience collaborating with international teams.

• Ability to work from the client's office in Sofia approximately 2 days per week.

Nice-to-have

• Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.

• Knowledge of message brokers and asynchronous task processing tools such as RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka, or Celery.

• Experience with event-driven architectures and distributed systems.

• Familiarity with serverless architectures and cloud-native development.

• Experience with GraphQL and/or WebSockets.

• Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform.

• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog.

• Familiarity with data processing tools such as Pandas or NumPy.

• Experience with high-load systems and performance-critical applications.

• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and services using Python.

• Build, maintain, and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices.

• Design and implement robust, maintainable, and efficient software architectures.

• Write clean, reusable, well-structured, and thoroughly tested code.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and deliver new features.

• Design and optimize database schemas, queries, and data access patterns.

• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, technical issues, and scalability challenges.

• Implement appropriate security, authentication, and authorization mechanisms.

• Develop and maintain automated unit, integration, and functional tests.

• Participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices.

• Lead technical discussions and contribute to architectural decisions.

• Support CI/CD processes, deployments, monitoring, and production troubleshooting.

• Mentor junior and mid-level developers and encourage knowledge sharing within the team.

• Take ownership of technical solutions throughout the software development lifecycle.
