Job Summary
Synechron is seeking a DevOps Engineer to support, administer, and engineer enterprise DevOps tools and platforms. The role requires hands-on experience operating production DevOps services, troubleshooting user and platform issues, automating operational activities, and enhancing CI/CD, artifact management, source control, deployment, security, and observability capabilities.The DevOps Engineer will support developers, build and release teams, infrastructure teams, security teams, and operations teams. The role contributes to business objectives by improving platform reliability, developer productivity, software delivery speed, operational consistency, security, compliance, and self-service capabilities.
Software Requirements
Required Software Skills
- CI/CD platforms: Hands-on experience supporting and engineering tools such as Jenkins, Bamboo, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, or TeamCity.
- Source control platforms: Experience with Git and platforms such as GitHub Enterprise, GitLab, Bitbucket, or Azure Repos.
- Artifact repositories: Experience with JFrog Artifactory, Sonatype Nexus Repository, Docker registries, or comparable package-management platforms.
- Deployment and release tools: Experience with Argo CD, Harness, Octopus Deploy, or comparable deployment automation platforms.
- Security and quality tools: Experience with tools such as SonarQube, Snyk, JFrog Xray, Black Duck, Checkmarx, Veracode, or Fortify.
- Automation and scripting: Strong scripting experience using Python, Bash or Shell, PowerShell, Groovy, YAML, REST APIs, or comparable technologies.
- Infrastructure: Working knowledge of Linux and/or Windows server administration, Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- CI/CD and release engineering: Understanding of build automation, branching strategies, Git workflows, artifact promotion, environment management, release management, and deployment automation.
- Platform administration: Experience managing agents, runners, executors, plugins, webhooks, permissions, service accounts, API tokens, credentials, and secrets.
- Tool versions: Experience supporting the versions of DevOps, CI/CD, source control, artifact, security, cloud, container, and infrastructure tools used by the assigned Synechron environment.
Preferred Software Skills
- Experience with Bamboo Data Center, Jenkins controller and agent architecture, GitHub self-hosted runners, or GitLab runners.
- Experience with Kubernetes deployment tools such as Argo CD, Helm, Kustomize, or Flux.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or comparable infrastructure-as-code tools.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ELK, or CloudWatch.

- Experience designing highly available DevOps platforms and disaster recovery processes.

Overall Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and support enterprise DevOps tools and platforms.
- Provide day-to-day support for CI/CD pipelines, build failures, deployment issues, repository access, plugin issues, and tool integrations.
- Troubleshoot build agents, runners, executors, remote agents, permissions, credentials, webhooks, API tokens, and platform integrations.
- Manage user access, roles, permissions, service accounts, credentials, secrets, and tokens in accordance with security policies.
- Monitor tool health, availability, capacity, performance, and usage trends.
- Support incident response, root cause analysis, remediation, and prevention for platform outages or degraded performance.
- Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, FAQs, standard operating procedures, and support records.
- Design, engineer, and enhance DevOps platforms to improve developer productivity, reliability, scalability, security, and self-service capabilities.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipeline templates, shared libraries, reusable workflows, and automation frameworks.
- Automate platform administration, provisioning, configuration management, patching, monitoring, backup validation, and recurring operational tasks.
- Develop integrations between DevOps tools, source control systems, artifact repositories, cloud platforms, ticketing systems, and security scanners.
- Engineer scalable build and deployment infrastructure, including self-hosted agents, runners, worker nodes, and containerized build environments.
- Implement standardized workflows for build, test, scan, package, publish, deploy, and release activities.
- Support GitOps and Kubernetes deployment workflows using Argo CD, Helm, Kustomize, and Kubernetes manifests.
- Support CI/CD pipelines across Java, .NET, Node.js, Python, containerized, and cloud-native workloads.
- Manage artifact publishing, promotion, versioning, tagging, branching, and environment-promotion processes.
- Implement quality gates, approval workflows, vulnerability scanning, license checks, secrets scanning, and compliance controls.
- Support high availability, backup and recovery, monitoring, resilience, and disaster recovery planning for DevOps platforms.
- Improve platform sustainability by optimizing compute utilization, reducing unnecessary pipeline executions, reusing automation components, and extending the operational life of supported platforms.
- Measure success through improved platform availability, reduced recurring incidents, faster issue resolution, greater pipeline reuse, improved developer experience, stronger security controls, and more reliable software delivery.

- Troubleshoot CI/CD pipeline failures, deployment issues, agent or runner problems, repository access, permissions, credentials, plugins, webhooks, and platform integrations.
- Collaborate with development, infrastructure, security, release, and operations teams to improve pipeline patterns, platform reliability, onboarding, support processes, and delivery workflows.
- Administer and enhance DevOps tools, build reusable pipeline templates, automate operational tasks, patch platforms, monitor performance, and maintain documentation.
- Make platform and automation decisions within approved technical and security standards, prioritize incidents and engineering work, and escalate material risks or service impacts when required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated experience in DevOps, platform engineering, release engineering, build engineering, systems administration, or related infrastructure roles is required.
- Certification in cloud, DevOps, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, GitLab, Terraform, or a related discipline is preferred but not mandatory.
- Relevant training in CI/CD, automation, cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, DevSecOps, security, or IT service management is preferred.
- Commitment to continuous professional development through technical learning, certifications, knowledge sharing, and awareness of evolving DevOps tools and engineering practices.
