About Plum

Plum is an employee insurance and health benefits platform focused on making health insurance simple, accessible, and inclusive for modern organizations.

Healthcare in India is seeing a phenomenal shift, with healthcare cost inflation growing at 3x the rate of general inflation. A majority of Indians are unable to afford health insurance independently, making employer-sponsored insurance an increasingly important part of healthcare access.

Plum is on a mission to provide the highest-quality insurance and healthcare to 10 million lives by FY2030, through companies that care. We are backed by Tiger Global and Peak XV Partners.

About the Role

Plum's New Initiatives team builds new products and experiences from the ground up. We are looking for a Product Designer to shape one of our next consumer experiences from 0→1.

This is an opportunity to go beyond designing screens and flows. You'll help define what the product should be, understand the problems worth solving, experiment with ideas, and bring entirely new experiences to life.

You'll work closely with a small, cross-functional team of Product, Engineering, and Business stakeholders, with the autonomy to influence product direction, shape its identity, and see your ideas move from concept to launch.

What We Believe

Too many products run on pressure: urgency, fine print, and funnels you can't leave.

We believe people make better decisions when they're given the whole picture and the time to use it.

The user should own the journey, not the funnel.

What You'll Do

  • Decide what the product is, not just how it looks.
  • Be a thought partner to a small team across Product, Engineering, and Business.
  • Take a hunch on Monday to a working prototype in front of users by Friday.
  • Shape the voice, feel, and identity of a brand that doesn't exist yet.
  • Be willing to kill your own ideas when the evidence points elsewhere, and defend them when it doesn't.
  • Own the numbers your design moves, not just the files you hand off.

You Might Be the One If

  • You have 2–5 years of experience, ideally in a startup, early-stage environment, or building something independently.
  • You've designed something from zero, navigated evolving requirements, and actively influenced the product's direction.
  • You're obsessed with users. You speak to them often and advocate for their needs, even when it's inconvenient.
  • You can think through product, brand, and copy problems simultaneously.
  • You have a sharp eye for visual design: typography, layout, colour, and spacing. You sweat the details and can articulate why something works.
  • You've worked with numbers: funnels, conversion rates, and drop-offs. You define success metrics before designing and evaluate them after launch.
  • AI is already part of how you work. You'd rather build and test a live prototype than present a static flow.

The Deal

  • Engagement: Full-time or consultant (minimum 6 months). We're open to both.
  • Location: Bangalore (Whitefield).
  • Work mode: In-office.
  • Opportunity: Own and shape a new consumer product experience from 0→1, with significant creative and product ownership.
