We are looking for a Research Associate / Research Engineer II to conduct cutting-edge research and software/hardware development in robotic systems operating under uncertainty. The role will focus on designing, implementing, and experimentally validating advanced algorithms in uncertainty-aware robot perception and robust robotic manipulation, directly supporting NTU's commitment to advancing world-class robotics research and industrial innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities of the research engineer is to contribute to the following areas.

  • Design, implement, and benchmark algorithms in probabilistic robotics, uncertainty-aware perception, and robust robotic manipulation under real-world uncertainties.
  • Lead the development, maintenance, and public release of clean, well-documented open-source software repositories (e.g., ROS/ROS2 packages, Python/C++ libraries).
  • Execute software-hardware integration for robotic manipulators, sensors, and actuators to build reliable, high-performance experimental setups.
  • Plan and execute experimental validation in laboratory and field settings; evaluate perception-action loops using multi-modal sensor data.
  • Draft invention disclosures for patents/IP protection and write research manuscripts for top-tier robotics publications (e.g., ICRA, IROS, RSS, T-RO).
  • Manage laboratory infrastructure, ensure compliance with workplace safety standards, and co-guide student researchers.

Job Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong programming proficiency in C++ and Python, with hands-on experience in ROS/ROS2 and Linux environments.
  • Solid theoretical foundation or practical experience in robot perception, state estimation, computer vision, or robotic manipulation under uncertainty.
  • Experience with open-source software contributions, code versioning (Git), or patent disclosures is highly desirable.
  • Excellent technical writing skills, proactive problem-solving mindset, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative research team.

We regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
