Assistant Project Manager – Tulsa Data Center
Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma Company: Kelso Southwest
Position Summary
Kelso Southwest is seeking an Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support the execution of a major data center project in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The APM will work closely with project and field leadership to coordinate documentation, procurement, scheduling, cost tracking, and day-to-day project execution.
The ideal candidate has experience in commercial or industrial mechanical construction, with exposure to piping, HVAC, process piping, or other self-perform mechanical scopes. Data center or mission-critical experience is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the Project Manager with day-to-day project planning and execution.
• Coordinate RFIs, submittals, change orders, drawings, and project documentation.
• Assist with procurement, material tracking, equipment deliveries, and long-lead items.
• Track project schedules, milestones, costs, and progress.
• Coordinate with superintendents, project engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and other trade partners.
• Help identify field conflicts, schedule impacts, and project risks and drive timely resolution.
• Participate in project meetings and maintain accurate action items and follow-up.
• Assist with cost reporting, forecasting, billing, and change management.
• Maintain communication between project management and field teams.
• Support project closeout, punch-list activities, turnover documentation, and commissioning requirements.
Qualifications
• 2–5+ years of construction project experience, preferably with a mechanical contractor.
• Experience with commercial, industrial, or mission-critical construction.
• Knowledge of HVAC, piping, process piping, hydronic, or related mechanical systems preferred.
• Data center, semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, or similar project experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, scheduling, and cost tracking.
• Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with both project-management and field teams in a fast-paced environment.
