About Solar Energy Solutions
Founded in 2006, Solar Energy Solutions (SES) designs and builds solar and battery storage systems for homeowners, businesses, and institutions across Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Tennessee, West Virginia, Virginia, and the surrounding region.
We handle projects end to end, including engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC), with an in-house team that holds electrical licenses, NABCEP certifications, and a range of manufacturer certifications. Our mission is to help build the clean energy economy and create well-paying, lasting jobs along the way. We're growing, and we're looking for people who want to grow with us.
The Role
As a Construction Project Manager, you'll own each project from the moment it leaves sales until the customer is trained and satisfied with their system. You'll coordinate engineering, procurement, and construction, keep customers informed, and be accountable for each job's schedule, quality, and profitability.
A typical portfolio includes 10 to 20 active projects at a time and 20 to 50 projects per year, depending on project size. Individual projects generally range from $50,000 to $1,000,000. We're currently considering candidates from early-career project managers through experienced PMs.
What You'll Do
Kickoff and planning
• Take handoff of sold projects from the sales team and confirm scope, contract terms, and customer expectations.
• Guide projects through design with the engineering team and confirm the design matches the contracted scope and budget.
• Review project plans with the construction manager and procurement team before work begins.
• Manage permitting and interconnection with local jurisdictions, utilities, HOAs, and other stakeholders.
Execution
• Confirm materials are ordered and delivered on schedule, and resolve supply issues before they cause delays.
• Schedule crews and make sure the right team is on site when needed.
• Serve as the customer's primary point of contact, from the kickoff meeting through regular progress updates.
• Routinely visit jobsites.
• Oversee the construction manager during installation, track progress, and resolve issues as they come up.
Closeout and financials
• Validate system commissioning and confirm each system performs as designed.
• Train customers on their new system and make sure they're satisfied at project close.
• Own the job P&L, including budget tracking, change orders, cost control, and billing milestones.
• Keep project records current in HubSpot and Microsoft 365.
What We're Looking For
Required
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
• Clear, proactive communication with customers, crews, and internal teams.
• Comfort managing budgets and making decisions that affect project profitability.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• A professional, steady approach when schedules or site conditions get difficult.
• A valid driver's license, the ability to travel to job sites routinely, and successful completion of pre-employment background and motor vehicle checks.
Preferred
• Project management experience, ideally in construction or energy.
• Electrical or solar industry experience.
• NABCEP certification, or interest in earning one.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Familiarity with HubSpot, MS Project or other scheduling software, CAD, or Adobe tools.
Benefits
• Competitive salary plus performance bonus
• Health, dental, and vision insurance
• 401(k) with company match
• Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) participation after one year
• Paid time off
