Job Description

OUR PURPOSE AND CULTURE

We are driven to create a future where people and place enrich one another. We are wholly committed to rooting ourselves more deeply in every place we are in while setting new benchmarks for positive impact.

As a pioneering collective with a common purpose, we curate extraordinary moments and honor the soul of every place along our journey. At Rosewood Hotel Group, we answer The Calling. Together, we Make the Place.

THE TEAM

You will join the Engineering team and report to the Assistant Director of Engineering and Director of Engineering. Working closely with hotel departments, Finance and external vendors, you will supervise and develop Engineering associates, coordinate daily work priorities and support the reliable operation of guestrooms, equipment and building systems.

YOUR ROLE

As Engineering Manager, you will provide hands-on leadership for the hotel’s preventive maintenance and repair operations. You will organize assignments, inspect completed work, respond to guest and operational concerns, manage supplies and projects, and support safety and emergency procedures. In the absence of senior Engineering leadership, you will help direct the department while maintaining service, productivity and brand standards.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE THE PLACE

  • Lead daily Engineering operations, distribute assignments, coordinate priorities and breaks, monitor attendance and ensure work orders and follow-up actions are completed and documented.
  • Participate in preventive maintenance programs for guestrooms, equipment and building systems; conduct property rounds; take gauge readings; and identify fire, lighting, equipment and safety concerns.
  • Provide hands-on support for repairs and emergency situations, maintain knowledge of equipment operation and train associates on newly installed equipment and general building procedures.
  • Maintain positive guest relations, respond promptly to requests, resolve complaints and use guest feedback and departmental handovers to identify and follow up on maintenance needs.
  • Inspect supply levels, storage areas, tools and equipment; conduct weekly inventories; prepare requisitions; oversee purchasing activity; and partner with Finance on purchase-order processing and payment.
  • Plan materials and schedules for special projects, coordinate work with department leaders and vendors, and identify cost-effective methods that improve efficiency and reduce operational conflicts.
  • Recruit, train, coach and develop Engineering associates; observe performance, correct deficiencies, support employee-relations processes and foster a cooperative, productive working environment.
  • Prepare effective schedules, monitor payroll and expenditures, complete required reports and meetings, maintain policies and standards, and act for the Assistant Director or Director of Engineering when required.

COULD THIS BE YOU?

  • You have at least four years of experience in building maintenance, electrical work, plumbing and refrigeration within a luxury or ultra-luxury property.
  • You hold a high school diploma; the job description does not require a specific license or certification.
  • You have working knowledge of plumbing, electrical and water-treatment programs, blueprints, wiring schematics, power and hand tools, meters, refrigeration equipment and general building maintenance.
  • You are comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as BMS systems, BirchStreet, HotSOS, Opera and payroll systems.
  • You are a hands-on, resourceful and flexible problem-solver who remains calm under pressure, uses sound judgment and can work accurately with minimal supervision.
  • You can manage schedules, payroll, expenditures, inventories, purchasing, vendors and basic office responsibilities while handling common mathematical calculations and units of measure.
  • You communicate clearly in English, with additional language fluency preferred, and protect confidential guest and hotel information.
  • You can meet the physical requirements of the role, including transporting up to 50 pounds, reaching and moving throughout work areas, and remaining stationary at times during the workday.

OUR BENEFITS

As part of our team, you'll enjoy a thoughtfully designed benefits package that supports your wellbeing, professional growth, and life beyond work. This includes medical coverage, retirement benefits, paid time off, complimentary room nights, learning and development opportunities, global career opportunities, and industry-leading paid parental leave supporting eligible associates across all paths to parenthood.

OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU

At Rosewood Hotel Group, your voice is heard and valued. We're a community that encourages associates to be themselves, not fit into a fixed culture, and this philosophy shines through in our commitments to reflect and honor the history, culture and geography of our destinations. We're not only committed to building and nurturing genuine, long-lasting relationships but to transforming them, and our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) strategy helps put these principles into practice.
