Requirements

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering and possess 8-10 years of building science consulting experience. A P.Eng. designation is preferred, along with excellent communication skills and a valid driver's license.

Building Science Engineer

 

About the Role:

The Senior Project Manager – Building Science will be the strategic and technical lead on complex building restoration, building envelope, and property assessment projects. This role blends deep technical expertise with strong leadership and client relationship skills, while overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of building science projects—ranging from condition assessments to building envelope investigations and rehabilitation programs—ensuring they are completed on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.  The Senior Project Manager will act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing expert guidance on building performance, durability, and compliance, while mentoring junior team members and fostering a culture of technical excellence.  

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Work alongside a team of project managers and project coordinators to 

successfully deliver on assigned projects.  

  • Mentor and support team members including but not limited to project coordinators, junior project managers and project managers. 
  • Provide technical leadership in building envelope design, restoration strategies, and construction review. 
  • Conduct and oversee technical assessments, investigations, and reporting. 
  • Develop and/or improve processes and procedures for Project Management 

to improve efficiency. 

  • Lead & coordinate with site inspectors to complete site activities. Facilitate 

the communication between site inspectors and project managers as  required. Responsible for managing and reviewing project deliverables. 

  • Manage and delegate construction administration tasks including but not 

limited to shop drawing reviews, contract document setup etc. to team  members. 

  • Responsible for ensuring all construction admin tasks are completed 

accurately, timely and within the assigned budget for projects. 

  • Facilitate the communication between the project management team and the design team as required. 
  • Respond to client related queries regarding the technical and financial 

aspects of the project. 

  • Prepare and continually monitor a schedule of tasks required to complete the project including hours to perform tasks and critical data required for 

performance. 

  • Organize and chair internal and client meetings. 
  • Complete all other project management, construction admin and general 

project oversight tasks as required to successfully complete assigned  projects. 

  • Complete all other tasks as assigned by upper management.

What You'll Bring to TCG:

·       Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering or Post-Secondary Education in Engineering or Architectural Technology. 

·        Minimum of 8-10 years of related experience as a consultant in building science.

·        P.Eng. designation is preferred, but experienced practitioners with other professional designations will be considered. 

·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and presentation skills. 

·        Excellent multi-tasking skills and adaptability to shifting priorities. 

·        Strong organizational skills. 

·        A team player approach to problem solving. 

·        The successful candidate must possess a valid class G driver’s license.
