About the role

The Lead Business Analyst is responsible for leading a team of Business Analysts and delivering high-quality business analysis services across complex transformation initiatives.

The role will oversee the analysis, design and development of project deliverables, ensuring requirements are clearly defined, effectively prioritised and aligned with business and stakeholder needs. It requires a continuous improvement mindset, strong leadership capability and the ability to apply modern, data-centric approaches to resource planning, problem-solving and delivery.

You will bring extensive expertise in business analysis tools and techniques, Agile delivery practices and financial markets. A solid understanding of clearing and derivative products is essential.

What you will be doing

  • Lead, coach and support a team of Business Analysts, promoting quality, consistency and value across all business analysis deliverables.
  • Plan and allocate Business Analyst resources and forecast analysis requirements across project and team backlogs.
  • Lead business analysis activities across the full delivery lifecycle, from early discovery and ideation through to execution, implementation and embedment.
  • Work closely with project and program teams to refine, prioritise and manage backlogs.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders and subject-matter experts to elicit, analyse and document detailed business, functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Translate complex stakeholder needs into clear, comprehensive and traceable business requirements.
  • Manage stakeholder consultation across multiple business areas, identifying and documenting the business processes and operating models required to support new platforms and solutions.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify and manage program risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies.
  • Support the design of business data models and data flows.
  • Conduct peer reviews of work completed by Business Analysts to ensure accuracy, completeness and alignment with agreed standards.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, retrospectives, sprint planning and backlog refinement.
  • Contribute to change management activities and develop training materials to support the adoption of new processes, systems and business requirements.
  • Work with Platform Leadership, Project Managers, Delivery Managers and Business Analysis Capability leaders to coach and develop Business Analysts.
  • Support the ongoing development of business analysis practices, standards, tools and methodologies.
  • Participate actively in the Business Analyst Capability Community of Practice.
  • Take on broader project coordination and cross-functional responsibilities when required.

What you will bring

Must have

  • Eight or more years of dedicated business analysis experience, including experience working on complex or transformational programs.
  • Demonstrated experience gained as a Business Analyst within front office, middle office or back office environments, or within risk management or product-related areas in financial markets.
  • A solid understanding of clearing and derivative products.
  • Strong financial markets domain knowledge and an understanding of the associated products, processes, operating models and stakeholder groups.
  • Proven experience leading Business Analysts and delivering outcomes across large, complex or Tier 1 projects.
  • Experience working across the full software development lifecycle, from early discovery and requirements definition through to implementation and embedment.
  • Extensive experience in complex data analysis, data modelling, data mapping and process modelling.
  • Strong knowledge of business analysis methodologies, tools and techniques.
  • Experience working within both Agile and Waterfall delivery environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing requirements, including scoping, elicitation, prioritisation, documentation, traceability and change control.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage, influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all organisational levels.
  • Experience managing or supporting Business Analyst teams, including resource planning, work allocation, coaching and quality assurance.
  • Experience facilitating Agile ceremonies and planning iterations of work, including sprints and Program Increments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, complexity and changing priorities.
  • Experience using process-modelling tools such as Microsoft Visio or another enterprise-endorsed platform.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, influencing, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Experience working with release management, technical change and organisational change management.
  • The ability to work effectively within a complex matrix environment.

Nice to have

  • A recognised Business Analysis qualification or certification, such as IIBA CBAP.
  • Knowledge of exchange, clearing, settlement or broader financial markets infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting production incidents and responding to end-user queries.
  • Experience improving or evolving business analysis practices and delivery standards.
  • A growth mindset and an interest in adopting contemporary tools and practices to improve delivery outcomes.
