About the company
At Mace Construct, our purpose is to redefine the boundaries of ambition. We are innovators, trusted partners, construction experts. Founded on a belief that the built environment sector could be more efficient, innovative and responsible. We’ve built a reputation and track record for delivering projects better than ever before: safer, faster and greener. Transforming industries, supporting communities and leaving legacies.
About the project Mace Construct has worked at Heathrow for more than 25 years. Over that time, its role has extended across more than 400 live frameworks and projects on a 1,227-hectare campus. Experience at that scale builds more than site knowledge. It develops an understanding of how operational, technical and stakeholder interfaces behave under pressure, and what it takes to deliver change without interrupting the system around it.
Our teams have extensive, first-hand understanding of delivering airport projects, combining exceptional commitment to safety, smart construction methods and a collaborative, client-focused approach to ensure success. This approach has cemented long term partnerships.
About the role
The role is for a BI developer specialising in the Microsoft technology stack. It is a client-facing role supporting major infrastructure programmes, with an initial focus on a major airport infrastructure project and the opportunity to help shape reporting foundations across multiple workstreams. You will be responsible for reporting activity within a major airport infrastructure project, helping to structure project data, improve Power BI outputs and support a consistent monthly reporting drumbeat. Alongside this, the role will contribute to Mace Construct’s wider reporting and digital delivery ecosystem, supporting reusable data, Power BI reporting, project controls insight, PPC (production planning and control) reporting and data-led ways of working across project teams.
What you’ll be doing
· Taking responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of BI and reporting solutions, from requirements and design through to development, deployment, handover and support.
· Working with project teams to understand reporting needs and translate them into clear, scalable data models, dashboards and insight products.
· Supporting the development of reusable data foundations that allow project information to be structured, governed, stored and reused across multiple reporting use cases, including cost, benchmarking, project controls and delivery performance data.
· Helping to mature reporting across major infrastructure programmes, including project planning and controls, commercial, cost, programme, supply chain, finance, client and delivery performance reporting.
· Taking ownership of Power BI reporting products over time, including maintaining quality, adding new content, coordinating regular updates and supporting a consistent reporting cadence with stakeholders.
· Contributing to the continued development of the wider reporting and digital delivery ecosystem, helping project teams adopt consistent tools, standards and ways of working.
· Supporting the use and adoption of digital tools such as Morta where they help teams capture, manage and report project information more effectively.
· Supporting emerging AI-enabled workflows and automation opportunities that use project data to prompt action, improve follow-up and reduce manual reporting effort.
· Taking responsibility for the quality and timeliness of deliverables produced by yourself and, where appropriate, other members of the team.
· Sharing knowledge with others, including creating documentation, learning materials and guidance that support adoption and long-term maintainability.
What you’ll bring
· Minimum of 5 years’ experience with Power BI and a good understanding of the wider Power BI stack, including semantic models, dataflows, apps, deployment and report lifecycle management.
· Strong Power Query and data transformation skills, with an understanding of efficient ETL design, query folding and repeatable data preparation patterns.
· Strong DAX and data modelling capability, including the use of variables, filter context and model design principles to create efficient, maintainable reporting solutions.
· An eye for high-quality report design, including clear visual layout, usability, accessibility and appropriate interaction design for project stakeholders.
· An understanding of the capabilities of Power BI and supporting tools & platforms, including particularly Microsoft Fabric and SharePoint.
· A good understanding and experience in working with structured project datasets (including project controls, commercial, cost, programme, supply chain or delivery performance data).
· The ability to translate operational and project reporting requirements into scalable Power BI semantic models, reports and repeatable reporting processes.
· An understanding of working in an Integrated Project Team and management of stakeholders including clients, project managers and data owners.
Nice to have
· The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
· A willingness to share knowledge and support the development of others.
· The confidence to ask questions, make suggestions and challenge the status quo.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills (in English) and presentational skills.
· A commitment to working inclusively.
· An aptitude for problem-solving.
· Good interpersonal skills.
· Any supporting knowledge or experience of BI and data analytics software and languages such as Python, JSON, R, JavaScript, SQL, etc. would be a benefit but is not a requirement.
