Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and innovative Development Operations Engineer to join a team working on our new project. The team is delivering a web based data platform solution into AWS cloud as software as a service (SaaS.) This person must be a self-starter who thrives in fast-paced development organizations.

This person will be working with development teams in India, Ireland, Poland and North America to design, develop, test and support the deployment and management of highly reliable software systems designed to run in AWS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement automated deployment scripts for deployment through Cloud Formation into AWS
  • Maintain and manage the CI/CD deployments to all engineering environments
  • Design and implement toolsets to use to manage the engineering environments
  • Ensure high security standards are maintained and enforced in engineering environments
  • Maintain and manage Github repository security, access and standards
  • Manage AWS infrastructure for all engineering environments

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • 3-4+ years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, cloud operations, or production software engineering
  • Programming experience in TypeScript/JavaScript and Python programming languages
  • A solid background in automated CI/CD practices
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, Pulumi, Chef, Github Actions or Jenkins
  • Demonstrated experience in CDK/Cloud Formation, Github source control and Github Actions
  • Communication/documentation skills to work across multiple teams across many time zones
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS technologies primarily: Lambda, API Gateway, Code Build, Code Pipelines, CloudFront, S3, Glue, IAM Roles, Web Application Firewall (WAF), DynamoDB, Aurora, Event Bridge, Simple Queue Service (SQS), Secrets Manager, SSM Parameters, Kinesis Data Stream, Kinesis Firehose, Cognito, VPC, Route53, Certificate Manager
  • Experience delivering containerized software
  • Experience in using RESTfull web services
  • Experience working in Agile development organizations
  • Experience with alerting/monitoring cloud software with tools like Data Dog, Sumologic or Grafana
  • Good knowledge of networking (DNS, firewalls, etc.)
  • An understanding of design/test for high availability
