Job description:

COLAB Marketing Inc. is looking for an experienced Development Lead to lead our web development function and oversee the development, maintenance, optimization, and delivery of websites and e-commerce platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in PHP, WordPress, Shopify, and Magento, along with the ability to lead developers, manage technical projects, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure high-quality development standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the development team, ensuring projects are delivered on time and according to requirements.
  • Plan, prioritize, and distribute development tasks among team members.
  • Develop, customize, and maintain websites and web applications using PHP.
  • Develop and manage WordPress websites, including custom themes, plugins, and integrations.
  • Work on Shopify stores, including theme customization, app integrations, and performance optimization.
  • Develop, customize, and maintain Magento-based e-commerce websites.
  • Write clean, scalable, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Review code and ensure development best practices and coding standards are followed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical, performance, security, and functionality issues.
  • Optimize websites for speed, performance, responsiveness, and scalability.
  • Work closely with designers, SEO specialists, project managers, and other teams to deliver client requirements.
  • Conduct technical planning and provide accurate development estimates and timelines.
  • Monitor project progress and identify potential technical risks or blockers.
  • Ensure websites are responsive and work properly across different browsers and devices.
  • Manage website migrations, integrations, API connections, and third-party tools when required.
  • Maintain website security, backups, updates, and overall technical health.
  • Stay updated with emerging web technologies, development frameworks, AI tools, and industry best practices.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level developers and support their technical growth.

Required Technical Skills PHP

  • Strong hands-on experience with PHP development.
  • Ability to develop and customize PHP-based applications.
  • Strong understanding of backend development and database integration.

WordPress

  • Strong experience with WordPress development.
  • Experience developing/customizing themes and plugins.
  • Experience with WordPress APIs, integrations, and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of WordPress security and performance optimization.

Shopify

  • Experience with Shopify store development and customization.
  • Experience customizing Shopify themes.
  • Familiarity with Shopify apps, integrations, and APIs.
  • Understanding of Shopify e-commerce functionality and optimization.

Magento

  • Hands-on experience with Magento development and customization.
  • Experience working with Magento themes, extensions, integrations, and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of Magento e-commerce architecture and performance optimization.

Front-End

  • Strong knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Good understanding of responsive web design.
  • Ability to troubleshoot front-end issues and work closely with UI/UX teams.

Leadership & Management

  • Proven experience leading or mentoring development teams.
  • Ability to review code and maintain development standards.
  • Strong task management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and guide the team toward solutions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in Full-Stack/Web Development.
  • Strong hands-on experience with PHP, WordPress, Shopify, and Magento.
  • Strong knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Previous experience in a development lead, senior developer, or team leadership role is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Good understanding of website performance, security, and optimization.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
