Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain native Android applications using Kotlin and Java.
  • Build scalable, maintainable application architecture using sound object-oriented design principles and established design patterns.
  • Develop intuitive, responsive, and accessible user interfaces that provide a simple and engaging customer experience.
  • Integrate and maintain APIs, third-party libraries, SDKs, analytics platforms, and backend services.
  • Improve application performance, including network efficiency, battery usage, memory management, storage, and app responsiveness.
  • Debug production issues, address defects, and continuously improve app stability, quality, and feature set.
  • Keep applications current with Android platform changes, security updates, and evolving libraries and development practices.
  • Collaborate closely with product, UX, QA, backend, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver reliable releases.
  • Contribute to technical discussions, code reviews, estimation, and continuous improvement of development practices.
  • Evaluate relevant new technologies and tools that can improve engineering efficiency, app quality, or user experience.

You're the right fit if:

  • You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree with 5+ years of hands-on experience in native Android application development.
  • Strong proficiency in Kotlin and solid experience with Java for Android development.
  • Strong understanding of the Android SDK and core Android components, including activities, fragments, intents, services, broadcast receivers, content providers, layouts, widgets, touch handling, drawing, media, location, networking, storage, and security.
  • Good understanding of Android application architecture, design patterns, object-oriented design, and computer science fundamentals.
  • Experience with concurrency, multithreading, memory management, file I/O, and performance optimization.
  • Experience integrating RESTful web services and working with JSON, XML, serialization, and API framing. Familiarity with SOAP is a plus.
  • Experience with local data storage and database technologies such as SQLite/SQL and contemporary backend-integrated data solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of unit, integration, and UI testing practices, including TDD where applicable.
  • Hands-on experience with testing frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, and Espresso.
  • Experience with Git, issue tracking, CI/CD pipelines, and engineering productivity tools such as Jira and Azure DevOps/TFS.
  • Experience working in Agile development teams.
  • Experience publishing and maintaining applications through the Google Play Store, including release and rollout processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ownership mindset, and ability to communicate effectively within a collaborative team.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Bluetooth and connectivity technologies, particularly Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
  • Familiarity with network and battery optimization techniques for mobile applications.
