UCB is an international biopharmaceutical company primarily engaged in the research, development, and commercialization of pharmaceutical and biotechnological products. It specializes in researching therapeutic solutions for patients suffering from severe diseases, treated by specialists, particularly in the fields of the central nervous system (including epilepsy) and inflammation (including allergies).  

The Braine-l'Alleud site specializes in chemical synthesis, development, manufacturing, and packaging of pharmaceutical products.

Your mission will include:

 

Statistical Analysis and Process Monitoring:

Apply statistical methods to identify trends, signals, and improvement opportunities within quality-related datasets.

Support the implementation and interpretation of Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies, including control charts, process capability analysis, Pareto analysis, trend analysis, survival (time-to-event) analysis, and reliability analysis.

 

Data Analysis and Visualization:

Prepare, clean, and analyze structured datasets from quality systems.

Develop analytical scripts using R and/or Python.

Create clear visualizations and dashboards to communicate insights to business stakeholders.

Support the automation of recurring analysis and reporting activities.

 

Data Science Applied to Quality:

Contribute to projects focused on trend analysis, signal detection, and quality performance indicators.

Explore advanced analytical techniques such as predictive analytics, text mining, statistical modeling, and data mining.

Help establish scientifically sound and reproducible analytical methodologies.

 

Certification and Validation:

Perform certification and validation activities in compliance with UCB policies and requirements.

Provide support in line with UCB standards for Computer System Validation (CSV), including the certification of required systems.

 

Collaboration and Continuous Improvement:

Work closely with Quality and Digital Technology teams.

Translate analytical findings into actionable business recommendations.

Support digitalization initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, data integrity, and decision-making.

 

Your profile:

Education: Master’s degree (or currently in the final year of a Master’s program) in Statistics, Data Science, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or another quantitative discipline.

Languages: French proficiency is an asset; English fluency is essential (the direct manager and some team members are English-speaking only).

 

Required technical skills:

Knowledge of statistical analysis methods and their applications.

Experience with R and/or Python programming.

Familiarity with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar).

Understanding of exploratory data analysis and data preparation techniques.

Basic SQL knowledge is a plus.

 

Preferred knowledge:

Interest in Statistical Process Control (SPC), process monitoring, reliability engineering, and/or the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or other regulated industries.

Previous industry experience is not required.

 

 

Please note that this program is in partnership with Business France, and we follow the prerequisites required by Business France to carry out a VIE assignment. The main participation prerequisites are as follows:

  • Be between 18 and 28 years old; 
  • Hold the nationality of a member country of the European Economic Area; 
  • Have not worked or lived in the country where the mission will take place; 
  • Be available to dedicate yourself to the mission full-time; 
  • If you have French nationality or dual nationality, be in compliance with the national service obligations of France (Numéro Identifiant Défense); 
  • Have a clean criminal record. 

If you do not meet all these conditions, we will not be able to consider your application.
