As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the platform engineering organization, you provide technical coaching and advisory for one or more engineering teams and anticipate the needs and dependencies of other functions across the organization. Drive significant business impact through your capabilities and contributions, and apply deep technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to tackle a diverse array of challenges that span multiple technologies and applications.
Job responsibilities
- Manages a team of software engineers building reusable frameworks, SDKs, and AI-native tools adopted across the enterprise, including hiring, performance management, and career development.
- Partners with stakeholders across engineering teams to understand adoption needs and ensure the component roadmap delivers measurable value.
- Drives team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes, while establishing consistent validation standards and promoting reuse of effective patterns.
- Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
- Sets and scales operating practices for enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering and SDLC/TLM automation across multiple teams to improve delivery speed, quality, and operational outcomes; establishes measurable expectations (e.g., throughput, defect reduction, reliability) and ensures consistent validation, security, resiliency, and reuse of proven patterns.
- Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to drive efficiency and support capacity unlock initiatives across teams, prioritizing reuse of existing firm technology assets.
- Contributes hands-on as a technical lead, writing and reviewing production code in Java, JavaScript, or Python alongside the team.
- Identifies opportunities to improve operational stability and automate remediation of recurring issues.
- Builds and maintains a team culture of diversity, inclusion, and engineering excellence.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
- Demonstrated experience with AI-assisted software development tools and ability to coach engineers on validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows and experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption.
- Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Advanced skills in Python.
- Experience leading multi-team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and delivery tools, including defining governance/ways of working (human-in-the-loop validation, quality gates), measuring outcomes, and ensuring secure handling of sensitive inputs/outputs.
- Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, resiliency/security implications, and control expectations; ability to coach managers/leads and influence leaders on safe scaling patterns.
- Experience leading and managing engineering teams, including hiring, performance management, and career development.
- Proficiency in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle and agile methodologies.
- Practical cloud-native experience.

- Advanced skills in Java, JavaScript.
- Experience building SDKs, frameworks, or developer platforms that other engineering teams consume.
- Experience working with stakeholders to define and prioritize a platform component roadmap.
- Track record of growing engineers’ careers and AI-assisted development skills.
