Xentity is seeking to fill a React Native Mobile Application Developer position to lead the development and continued enhancement of mobile applications supporting the wildland fire community. The developer will be responsible for designing and implementing mobile experiences used by field personnel and fire management teams, with an emphasis on reliable operation in challenging environments where connectivity may be limited or unavailable.

The position will focus primarily on React Native mobile application development while also contributing to Xentity's React-based web applications. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience developing and supporting at least one production mobile application that has been published to the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and will be able to demonstrate their specific development contributions to that application.

The developer will work extensively with React Native, offline application capabilities, local data storage, mobile mapping, and Esri ArcGIS technologies. The role requires an understanding of the complete mobile application lifecycle, including local development, testing, application configuration, signing, builds, and store submission processes. The developer will not be responsible for operating the mobile CI/CD deployment pipeline, but must have sufficient knowledge of mobile build and deployment processes to define requirements, troubleshoot issues, and effectively support the team responsible for mobile CI/CD.

Position Scope

• Lead the design and development of React Native mobile applications supporting wildland fire operations and field personnel.

• Develop mobile applications designed to operate reliably in remote and low-connectivity environments, including offline mapping and data capabilities.

• Implement mobile mapping functionality using Esri ArcGIS technologies, including maps, feature layers, geographic data, and offline workflows.

• Work closely with backend, GIS, and web application developers to integrate mobile applications with APIs, data services, and existing Xentity application platforms.

• Provide technical guidance to the mobile CI/CD team regarding application build requirements, environment configuration, signing, provisioning, testing, and App Store/Google Play release requirements.

• Troubleshoot mobile build, device, operating system, performance, connectivity, and application issues and work with the appropriate team members to resolve them.

• Help establish approaches for offline data storage, synchronization, caching, and recovery for field applications.

• Support application testing across iOS and Android devices and operating system versions.

• Work directly with product owners, project managers, GIS specialists, UX designers, and wildland fire subject matter experts to translate operational requirements into effective mobile solutions.

Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.

Required Requirements

• Must be US Citizen to meet government contract requirements

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a position of Public Trust clearance

• Demonstrated professional experience developing React Native mobile applications.

• Must have been a developer on one or more production mobile applications published to the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and be able to describe their specific development role and contributions.

• Strong experience with React Native and TypeScript.

• Experience developing mobile mapping applications and working with geospatial data in an offline or constrained-connectivity environment.

• Required experience with Esri ArcGIS technologies, including the ArcGIS Maps SDK for React Native or equivalent ArcGIS mobile development technologies.

• Ability to design mobile applications that efficiently manage maps, geographic data, feature layers, and other potentially large datasets on mobile devices.

• Understanding of Android and iOS application development requirements, including application configuration, permissions, certificates, provisioning, signing, builds, and store requirements.

• Ability to work effectively with a mobile CI/CD team and provide technical requirements and guidance for mobile builds, testing, signing, and deployment.

• Experience troubleshooting mobile application issues across both Android and iOS.

• Strong understanding of mobile application performance, memory management, storage, connectivity, and battery considerations.

• Experience with Git and modern software development practices.

• Ability to collaborate with UX designers, web developers, GIS developers, backend developers, project managers, and technical leads.

• Strong problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills.

Preferred Requirements:

• Demonstrated experience implementing offline-capable mobile applications, including local data storage, synchronization, caching, and handling intermittent or unavailable network connectivity.

• Experience developing native Android applications using Kotlin.

• Experience developing native iOS applications using Swift.

• Experience building React Native applications that incorporate native Android or iOS modules.

• Experience implementing offline GIS workflows, including offline maps, feature data, synchronization, and conflict handling.

• Experience with Esri ArcGIS Maps SDK for Native Apps, ArcGIS Runtime, ArcGIS Feature Services, ArcGIS Online, or related Esri technologies.

• Experience with local mobile databases or storage technologies such as SQLite.

• Familiarity with OAuth and Authentication frameworks.

• Familiarity with Geospatial formats like KMZ, KML, GeoJSON, Shapeful, FileGDB.

• Familiarity with Agentic Pair Programming and VS Code.
