Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Application Developer to develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise-level Java applications and web services.

The selected candidate will work with a team of application developers, engineers, and subject matter experts to develop new applications and modernize existing legacy applications serving public users and internal staff.

The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in Core Java, Java EE/JEE, JPA, JSF/PrimeFaces, PostgreSQL, and RESTful web services, along with experience working in AWS cloud environments.

Work Arrangement: Remote. Utah residency is not required. Occasional onsite meetings may be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test enterprise Java applications and web services.
  • Build new applications and replace legacy applications.
  • Maintain existing Java web applications and implement enhancements based on business requirements.
  • Develop applications using Java EE/JEE frameworks, particularly EJB and JSF.
  • Implement authentication and authorization using OAuth2 and OpenAM.
  • Write, maintain, and optimize PostgreSQL SQL and PL/pgSQL.
  • Support AWS-based development and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipelines.
  • Apply data security standards and approved encryption techniques.
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into application features.
  • Collaborate with developers, engineers, and business stakeholders.

Required Qualifications & Technical Skills

  • 15+ years of experience with Core Java, Java EE/JEE, Java Persistence API (JPA), and Java Persistence Query Language (JPQL).
  • 5+ years of experience with JavaServer Faces (JSF) / PrimeFaces.
  • 10+ years of experience with PostgreSQL SQL and PL/pgSQL.
  • 5+ years of experience with Cloud / Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • 5+ years of experience developing Java RESTful web services.
  • Knowledge and application of WCAG accessibility standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB).
  • Experience with Maven and GitHub.
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
  • Experience with JUnit, Arquillian, or similar testing frameworks.
  • Experience with automated testing using Selenium.
  • Application load testing experience using Apache JMeter or similar tools.
  • Experience with JIRA.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of database schema design.
  • Ability to evaluate new technologies and contribute to architectural improvements.
