Summary of Essential Functions

  • Will work closely with and under the supervision of the Information Services Security Director and a designated Senior Security Analyst, taking direction and assisting when needed.
  • Will assist in the day-to-day activities of the department including security systems operating systems installation & management, network design and management, and computer operations.
  • Will assist with management of daily workload and updating project statuses using work order tracking application and project management application

Educational Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related subject; work experience will be considered as a substitution for a degree.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Technical experience or technical training in information systems at various levels of sophistication as it pertains to operating systems and hardware (Workstations, Networks, and various servers, both physical and virtual).
  • Depending upon area of need within the position, experience or training with AIX and/or UNIX systems would be advantageous.
  • Depending upon area of need within the position, experience or training in Information Systems Security and PCI standards and practices would be advantageous.

Physical Requirements

  • Primarily works the day shift tour of duty; may be asked to work additional hours as needed, including weekends and/or holidays.
  • May be expected to lift over twenty-five (25) pounds.
  • Ability to distinguish between numbers and symbols.
  • Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity with substantial movement of wrist and/or fingers.
  • Walking and climbing to accomplish tasks.
  • Corrected vision and hearing to normal or near normal range.
  • Extended periods of sitting and/or walking depending on specific duties.

Duties and Responsibilities (Under the Direction of a Senior Technical Analyst)

  • Provide assistance to users with Information Systems related problems, determining the necessity for and type of service. Technical support of email, firewall, network, servers and other devices may be required.
  • Prioritize projects and responsibilities using work order tracking and project management applications to ensure completion of assigned tasks in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Assist the IS team in identifying areas for system improvements including hardware, operating system and database software, information processing, and others.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of major operating systems, networks, and hardware components.
  • Provide consistent, precise, and timely information on the status of assigned projects using work order tracking and project management applications.
  • Attends departmental staff meetings and provide educational information and presentations as necessary.
  • If assigned, provide technical support for Networks (Local and Wide Area) including hardware, switches, cables, hubs, software, and operating environments.
  • As needed, install operating system releases or upgrades, maintaining operational integrity and ensuring the least amount of down time and minimal negative impact on computer operations and end users.
  • Performs all other tasks/responsibilities as required.
