Position Summary: Supervises quality assurance and food safety operations. Ensures that products meet or exceed all requirements critical for product safety, legal compliance, regulatory compliance, and quality. Additional responsibilities involve maintaining a food safety culture, assisting the development, validation and maintaining Food Safety and Food Quality systems consistent with the SQF Code certification requirements.

Responsibilities:
- Ensure quality standards have been met.
- Complete HACCP, SSOP and other department paperwork.
- Support BIH’s GMPs and SSOPs and follow up with any deficiencies.
- Perform daily inspections required of QA Techs when needed.
- Assure equipment is properly calibrated and documented.
- Coordinate samples to outside laboratory.
- Perform monthly GMP audits and document findings.
- Complete other inspections as assigned.
- Provide training and assistance to QA Techs.
- Support the QA Manager with any assigned tasks.
- Possess a good understanding of food safety rules and regulations.
- Have the ability to communicate the rules and regulations to the QA Techs.
- Be aware of customer specifications and needs to assure correct labels, date codes etc. are in place.
- Knowledge of SQF code and implementation at BIH, Sauk Rapids.
- Be a Member of the HAACP team.
- Responsible for releasing product from USDA testing in ROSS.
- Act as a qualified backup SQF practitioner.
- Assist in the SQF Audit as well as any other customer audits.
- Assist in the generation of UPC and nutritional information.
- Review and approve labels and send labels to USDA when necessary.
- Track and trend quality data.
- Perform daily inspections of incoming product, equipment and finished product.
- Calibrate scales and thermometers.
- Perform locker inspections according to company requirements.
- Perform lab testing on equipment, product, and environment.
- Convey hazards related with equipment to staff working near and with machines.
- Assisting QA Manager in conducting root cause analysis investigations for internal incidents and customer feedback in addition to closing identified actions within agreed upon timelines.
- Assist with internal audit program planning, execution and follow up.
- Edit and create inspection paperwork and Gainseeker to assure proper inspection and documentation of product attributes.
- Oversee paperwork audits to ensure accuracy and compliance to all food safety and quality programs.
- Act as backup SQF Practitioner for Quality Assurance Manager.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos in English. Ability to write simple correspondence.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form. Ability to deal with problems effectively.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: HACCP Training, Implementing SQF Systems Training.
Physical Demands: Requires varying degrees of pushing, pulling, and reaching for patties. Occasionally perform difficult manipulative tasks. Able to perform tasks requiring action of muscles or groups of muscles such as walking and stooping. Able to stand for prolonged periods (8 hour shift).

Benefits Overview
Competitive base salary ($70,000 to $80,000 annually). Base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Full benefits package, including medical/ vision/ dental/life insurance, 401(k) with company match, and paid time off. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards, including an annual incentive program based on individual and company performance.
