Senior Data Engineer

Description

We're seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join adm Indicia’s Data Engineering team, who are responsible for building and maintaining multiple data solutions for our business and our diverse client base. Experts in creating robust, scalable data pipelines, our team’s foundational work supports our ever-increasing demand for data-driven products and services across the company.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you are responsible for end-to-end delivery of automated data processing solutions, from inception to delivery and ongoing support.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and interpret business and stakeholder requirements, translating them into effective technical solution designs.
  • Create clear, comprehensive design documentation for technical audiences across multiple teams.
  • Take technical ownership and accountability for the successful delivery of data solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, team members, and cross-functional business teams to deliver solutions.
  • Accurately estimate, prioritise, and deliver work in a fast-paced commercial environment.
  • Design and develop scalable, robust, and secure data solutions, including ETL/ELT pipelines, data models, and integrations with downstream systems.
  • Partner with Data Engineering and Architecture colleagues to evolve, operate, and enhance the Data Platform in line with the platform roadmap.
  • Drive adoption of best practices and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring alignment with industry standards.
  • Provide technical guidance, support, and mentoring to junior colleagues and wider teams across the data organisation.

Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience delivering data solutions within a commercial environment.
  • Hands-on experience with modern cloud platforms, preferably AWS, with Azure and/or GCP experience also beneficial.
  • Strong experience in data processing using ETL/ELT methodologies and tools such as Matillion, AWS services, and Python.
  • Experience working with modern cloud-based Data Warehouses and Data Platforms, including Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or equivalent technologies.
  • Advanced SQL expertise, including Data Manipulation Language (DML) and Data Definition Language (DDL).
  • Proven ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies, concepts, and ways of working.
  • Experience producing high-quality technical documentation throughout the full solution delivery lifecycle.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working within fast-paced, cross-functional project delivery environments.
  • Strong planning and estimation skills, with a track record of delivering work to agreed timelines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
