As a UX Designer, you will collaborate across business, product and technology teams to understand user needs, solve complex problems, and create intuitive, accessible and engaging digital experiences.

You will take experiences from discovery and research through concept, design, testing, and refinement. You will translate user insights, business requirements and technical considerations into client journeys, user flows, wireframes, prototypes and polished designs, using research and usability testing to continuously improve the experience.

Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

What you’ll do:

  • Turn complex needs into simple, intuitive digital experiences.
  • Lead UX design from discovery and concept through testing and delivery.
  • Conduct user research to understand client and advisor needs, behaviours and pain points.
  • Create user journeys, flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
  • Test designs with users and use feedback and insights to improve the experience.
  • Design accessible and inclusive experiences that meet accessibility standards.
  • Apply responsive design practices across desktop, tablet and mobile experiences.
  • Partner with Product, Technology and business teams to deliver effective solutions.
  • Work closely with Agile teams to ensure the delivered experience reflects the design intent.
  • Use data, analytics, and user feedback to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Champion user needs and brings a user-centred perspective to decisions.
  • Collaborate across business areas to create consistent digital experiences.
  • Stay current with UX, accessibility and digital trends and bring new ideas forward.

What you’ll bring:

  • Three or more years of experience in UX, digital or product design, with a strong portfolio demonstrating responsive digital experiences.
  • Strong visual design fundamentals with experience in interaction design, mobile-first and responsive web design.
  • Expertise in standard UX software such as Figma, Sketch, OmniGraffle, Axure, InVision, UXPin, Balsamiq, Framer, and the like is a must. Basic HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills are a plus.
  • Strong understanding of digital accessibility and inclusive design practices, with experience using accessibility testing tools such as Axe.
  • Strong understanding of user-centred design practices, including user research, usability testing, prototyping, and design validation.
  • Ability to translate business, brand and user requirements into simple, engaging and scalable digital experiences.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and provide UX guidance to designers and business partners.
  • Curiosity and passion for digital design, emerging technologies, and continually improving user experience.
  • Experience working within Agile teams and ways of working.
