The Plant Engineering Project Manager independently manages a diverse portfolio of complex engineering and capital projects across the company’s operations. Projects vary in size and scope, from stand-alone facility improvements to components of larger capital construction programs. This role integrates operational requirements, technical considerations, and stakeholder expectations to deliver safe, practical, and cost-effective solutions.
The position is responsible for the full project lifecycle, from concept development and planning through design, execution, commissioning, and closeout. Using industry-standard project management practices and tools, the Plant Engineering Project Manager leads assigned projects, supports cross-functional teams, and serves as a trusted advisor on the development and implementation of plant engineering and non-capital initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The duties in this position include the following:
- Partner with SBS leadership and facility teams to identify
opportunities to improve efficiency, expand capacity, and address significant maintenance, reliability, and infrastructure needs.
- Lead the development and execution of capital projects,
including building construction, infrastructure upgrades, equipment installations, and plant layout modifications.
- Develop design alternatives and preliminary budget and
schedule estimates to support project evaluation and approval.
- Plan and manage all phases of facility capital projects,
including scope development, consultant selection, design, permitting, procurement, construction, commissioning, closeout, and warranty administration.
- Conduct space-planning and capital-planning studies to
evaluate feasibility, priorities, and funding requirements for strategic capital programs and development projects.
- Perform preliminary design reviews to establish scope,
schedule, budget, risks, and resource needs for future projects.
- Select, negotiate with, and administer contracts for
vendors, contractors, and consultants in accordance with company requirements.
- Manage project budgets and review and authorize vendor,
consultant, and contractor invoices within established approval authority.
- Administer construction activities, including change orders,
field directives, issue resolution, and contingency management.
- Establish, monitor, and report project budgets, schedules,
risks, and progress to SBS leadership and key stakeholders.
- Coordinate design reviews at appropriate project milestones
and document stakeholder input, decisions, and required actions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

experience with food-processing facility construction, preferably in seafood processing and manufacturing, including knowledge of appropriate construction practices, hygienic design considerations, and processing equipment integration.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management,
architecture, business, or a closely related field preferred.Minimum of five years of project management experience, including experience coordinating engineering or technical teams.
- Minimum of five years of operational experience in
manufacturing or food processing; seafood processing experience is strongly preferred.Experience leading technical team members through project delivery, including multidisciplinary design reviews.
- Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles,
methods, and tools.Proven ability to build and lead multidisciplinary project teams and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, technical professionals, operations and maintenance teams, and administrative staff.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects
simultaneously, meet demanding deadlines, and produce timely, high-quality deliverables.
Physical Demands
While performing the essential functions of this role, the employee is regularly required to sit, use their hands to handle or feel objects, and communicate verbally. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Work Environment and Schedule
This position is based at the Seattle, Washington corporate office and requires travel to company processing facilities, primarily in Alaska. Travel may be required up to 50% of the time, may occur on short notice, and may include continuous assignments of up to four weeks.

Salary Disclosure
The typical base pay range for this role is $125,000–$145,000 per year. Individual base pay is determined based on factors including the primary work location, the complexity and responsibilities of the role, job requirements, and relevant experience and skills.
