You'll also keep our systems healthy, secure and ready for what's next, including the smart use of AI.

Title: Technical Project Manager (Contract Assignment)

Position Type: 15-20 hours/week

Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid)

What you'll do

  • Plan projects: set goals and scope, build work breakdowns, schedules and budgets.
  • Run delivery using Agile/Scrum, and keep staff and vendors on track.
  • Manage development vendors, contracts and invoices, and lead vendor transitions.
  • Explain technology choices to leadership in plain language, including AI, databases, web architecture and system conversions.
  • Own the maintenance strategy for our websites and apps across test and production environments.
  • Improve business processes and support grant writing with technical content.

Our tech stack: WordPress on Kinsta, Microsoft Azure, Azure SQL, Angular, React/Next.js, ASP.NET Web API, .NET, Auth0, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, SendGrid and Mailchimp. You won't be writing the code, but you'll need to understand how these pieces fit together.

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, business or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years managing web or software development projects.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile methods, preferably Scrum.
  • Experience managing outside vendors or contractors, including scope, deliverables and invoices.
  • Working understanding of web-based system architecture, cloud hosting and relational databases.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organization skills and the ability to manage several projects at once.

Preferred qualifications

  • Scrum or project management certification (PSM, CSM or PMP).
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, including cloud migrations such as AWS to Azure.
  • Familiarity with WordPress, .NET, Angular or React/Next.js, and Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
  • Experience using AI tools in software development or operations.
  • Knowledge of digital accessibility standards (WCAG).
  • Experience in a nonprofit or with grant-funded projects, including grant reporting.
  • Experience with disability services, assistive technology or health and human services.
  • Experience building maintenance plans and test/release processes.
