POSITION SUMMARY

The program seeks a Senior Database Administrator to manage the ongoing administration of its on-premises database environment, which continues to operate in a monitored hybrid enclave while the program migrates workloads to Azure Government.

The environment includes two primary database administration areas: SQL Server databases managed through SQL Server Management Studio and MariaDB databases supporting the on-premises ServiceNow instance, hosted on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 9.8 servers and administered through SSH using the Linux command line.

The primary focus of this position is on-premises database administration. Candidates supporting the Azure Government cloud migration must also meet the additional qualifications outlined below.

• Maintain database inventories and documentation, including configurations, backup and retention schedules, and tested recovery procedures.

• Follow established program change management procedures and document administrative actions in accordance with applicable policies.

• Support incident response activities related to database issues and participate in an on-call rotation, if applicable.

• Maintain legacy database environments throughout the hybrid-enclave period, including decommissioning, final backups, and archival activities as systems are retired or migrated.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Five or more years of experience administering production SQL Server databases, including backup and restoration, security, performance tuning, and routine maintenance.

• Hands-on experience administering MariaDB or MySQL databases through the Linux command line, including SSH-based administration of RHEL servers.

• Experience working with PowerShell and Windows Server environments supporting SQL Server databases.

• Experience developing administrative automation scripts using PowerShell, T-SQL, and Bash.

• DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II baseline certification, such as CompTIA Security+ CE, or ability to obtain certification within the contract-required timeframe.

• Active DoD Secret security clearance or ability to meet contract-specific clearance requirements.

• Strong understanding of change management procedures and the ability to maintain clear, accurate technical documentation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Familiarity with the ServiceNow platform and its underlying database environment.

• Understanding of database schema and compatibility remediation during migration activities.

• Ability to operate within a DevSecOps environment, including automated approval processes, release management, and required documentation.

• Understanding of database lifecycle and disposition planning, including identifying workloads for migration, retirement, or replacement by enterprise services.
