About the role
The Cloud Architect serves as the technical authority for cloud platforms and cloud strategy across the Managed IT Services organization. This role is responsible for designing, governing, standardizing, and advancing cloud solutions across customer environments utilizing Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and hybrid infrastructures.
The Cloud Architect works closely with Engineering, Networking, Security, Service Delivery, Client Solutions, Sales teams to establish cloud standards, operational processes, monitoring requirements, automation frameworks, supported service offerings, and long-term technology roadmaps.
This role acts as both a strategic architect and hands-on technical leader, ensuring customer cloud environments are secure, scalable, resilient, cost-effective, and aligned with organizational best practices.
Successful candidates possess deep technical expertise across cloud technologies, infrastructure architecture, automation, identity management, networking, security, and operational governance while serving as a mentor and subject matter expert throughout the organization.
What you'll do
As our Cloud Architect, you will lead the strategy, design, and governance of cloud technologies across Azure, AWS, GCP, and hybrid environments. You will define cloud architecture standards, drive modernization initiatives, and develop scalable solutions that support a diverse customer base ranging from SMBs to enterprise organizations.
In this role, you will serve as the organization's primary cloud subject matter expert, designing secure, reliable, and highly available cloud environments while establishing best practices for governance, security, networking, identity management, automation, and operational support. You will work closely with Engineering, Networking, Security, and Operations teams to ensure cloud solutions are standardized, supportable, and aligned with business objectives.
You will champion automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) strategies, helping the organization improve efficiency, consistency, and service delivery through cloud-native tools, orchestration platforms, APIs, and emerging AI-enabled technologies. Additionally, you will establish operational standards for monitoring, observability, lifecycle management, and incident prevention to ensure long-term platform stability and performance.
As a trusted advisor to both customers and internal stakeholders, you will participate in architecture reviews, technical assessments, solution design workshops, and strategic planning initiatives. You will support complex customer engagements, validate solution feasibility and security requirements, and help shape future cloud service offerings and technology roadmaps.
Beyond technical leadership, you will mentor engineering teams, promote cloud best practices, foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, and help grow cloud expertise throughout the organization.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of progressive IT infrastructure, engineering, cloud, or architecture experience or a master's degree in related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience working with enterprise cloud technologies.
- Strong experience supporting Azure, AWS, GCP, and hybrid cloud environments.
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale cloud architectures.
- Experience with cloud migrations, modernization efforts, and operational transformations.
- Strong understanding of cloud networking, identity, security, governance, and cost management.
- Experience developing automation, scripting, and operational efficiencies.
- Strong consulting, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience mentoring engineers and technical teams.
- Ability to translate business objectives into scalable and supportable technical solutions.
The Cloud Architect is responsible for transforming cloud technologies from individual customer deployments into a strategic organizational capability by establishing standards, automation, governance, monitoring, service offerings, and architectural direction that improve customer outcomes and operational effectiveness across Azure, AWS, GCP, and hybrid environments.
