Opportunity Overview
As a Senior Technical Writer for New Product Introduction (NPI), you will own and develop clear, accurate, and production-ready documentation that supports new product transfer, assembly readiness, training, and manufacturing execution. This role requires a fully qualified technical writing professional who can work independently, understand complex technical inputs, assess documentation gaps, and convert engineering and manufacturing information into controlled work instructions, service documents, training materials, and database content.
The position will focus on creating and maintaining Assembly Work Instructions, NPI documentation packages, technical databases, and related training content for new product introduction projects. The role will partner closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Product Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, Program Management, and Product Support to ensure documentation is complete, accurate, scalable, and ready for controlled release.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Lead the development of technical documentation for NPI programs, including Assembly Work Instructions, service guides, installation guides, site preparation documents, training materials, and controlled database content.
• Translate complex engineering, manufacturing, quality, and service inputs into clear, accurate, and usable documentation for production teams, service teams, and internal stakeholders.
• Assess documentation requirements for new products, identify gaps, and define the documentation plan required to support pilot builds, validation, qualification, transfer, and production ramp.
• Own the structure, organization, accuracy, and release readiness of documentation packages for assigned NPI projects.
• Work independently with limited day-to-day instruction and use judgment to resolve documentation issues, unclear source information, and competing stakeholder inputs.
• Review, edit, clarify, and improve documents created by engineers, manufacturing teams, and other contributors to ensure consistency, completeness, and compliance with documentation standards.
• Create or modify illustrations, visuals, process references, and training resources needed to support assembly, service, and product support activities.
• Maintain Teradyne’s documentation database and ensure documents are properly controlled, updated, organized, and accessible to the required users.
• Advise cross-functional teams on documentation best practices and influence stakeholders to provide accurate inputs, timely reviews, and required approvals.

• Solves documentation problems of diverse scope where information may be incomplete, inconsistent, or dependent on multiple technical sources.
• Uses sound judgment to select the right documentation approach, resolve ambiguity, and escalate only when decisions require broader business or technical approval.
• Builds strong working relationships with senior internal and external partners and adapts communication style based on audience and technical depth.
• Operates independently on daily work and receives general direction on new assignments, with review focused on major deliverables, risk points, and release readiness.
