The role:
As a member of the software development team, you play a critical role in delivering the product roadmap through the design, development and maintenance of our headless Drupal platform, which serves content to our front-end applications via web APIs.
You will be responsible for building, extending and maintaining the company’s headless Drupal back-end, developing custom modules, modelling content, and exposing it through JSON:API and GraphQL to decoupled front-end applications, migrating data, while integrating third-party services and ensuring our platform is secure, performant and maintainable.
You will constantly identify, manage and mitigate risk to the digital product portfolio for both internal systems and external threats, keeping Drupal core and contributed modules patched and up to date and securing the APIs that expose our content.
Responsibilities
- To work on and help deliver key strategic product development projects to achieve our organisational objectives
- Drive continuous improvement for Drupal
- Maintain effective working relationships with your colleagues
- Take responsibility for proactive communication with the key business stakeholders involved with you and your teams’ activity
- Maintaining Drupal CMS service levels
- Work within the company’s processes and support Company initiatives
- Quality and security of the code base and APIs, including timely application of Drupal core and module security updates
- Monitor for and resolve issues with applications in a timely manner
Qualifications
- 3+ years of building web applications with PHP, including hands-on work with headless Drupal
- Solid knowledge of custom Drupal module development, content modelling and JSON or GraphQL
- Good understanding of clean architecture and how to build software that is reliable, maintainable and able to scale
- Thoughtful, detail-oriented approach when working with production systems and data
- Confidence in assessing the impact of changes before they go live, including deployment, backup and rollback considerations
- Strong track record of delivering high-quality software
- Proactive, self-driven mindset and a collaborative approach to working with others
Brownie points:
- Familiarity with JavaScript or TypeScript in decoupled front-end environments
- Knowledge of automated testing with PHPUnit
- Understanding of API security, including OAuth, JWT and CORS
- Exposure to Drupal deployment workflows, upgrades and production troubleshooting
- Experience working with large Drupal databases or content-heavy platforms
