Description & Requirements

WHAT MAKES US A GREAT PLACE TO WORK

We are proud to be consistently recognized as one of the world’s best places to work. We are currently the top ranked consulting firm on Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work list and have earned the #1 overall spot a record seven times. Extraordinary teams are at the heart of our business strategy, but these don’t happen by chance. They require intentional focus on bringing together a broad set of backgrounds, cultures, experiences, perspectives, and skills in a supportive and inclusive work environment. We hire people with exceptional talent and create an environment in which every individual can thrive professionally and personally.

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

You’ll join our Technology Solutions Group (TSG), partnering closely with cross-functional teams across product management, engineering, and business stakeholders. In this collaborative environment, you’ll help shape strategic product direction, align priorities across teams, and drive high-impact solutions that support Bain’s evolving business needs.

WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM

You’ll be the voice of the customer for a portfolio of data products within Bain’s Knowledge & Research Systems domain. These products bring together case experience, practice viewpoints, external market data, and operational data to power knowledge discovery, workflow automation, analytics, and AI-enabled experiences.

You’ll own the reliability, business value, adoption, and maturity of these products, helping practice, case-team, Knowledge Management, and Research stakeholders define what they need while guiding data engineering, analytics engineering, and technology teams on what to build and how to design it.

Alongside the Product Manager and business sponsors, you’ll co-own data product strategy, roadmap development, and stakeholder relationships, working closely with both the agile team and senior stakeholders and customers.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Own a portfolio of data products end to end, including reliability, business value, adoption, documentation, and continuous improvement
  • Independently lead data product initiatives from problem definition and discovery through design, delivery, launch, and adoption
  • Shape the data product roadmap and prioritize work based on business value, adoption, data quality, strategic alignment, and risk
  • Connect data products to high-value use cases across the case lifecycle, including knowledge discovery, research, reporting, and AI
  • Collaborate with data engineering, analytics engineering, architecture, AI, search, and platform teams to influence what is built and how it is designed
  • Shape data product architecture, data models, metric definitions, semantic layers, and reporting requirements
  • Partner with practices, case teams, Knowledge Management, Research and Data Services, PPK, and other business leaders to shape and draft requirements
  • Translate complex business needs into clear, buildable data product requirements, epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Lead discovery sessions, working groups, design reviews, user testing, demonstrations, and stakeholder decision forums
  • Oversee data quality, reliability, freshness, lineage, discoverability, accessibility, and service-level expectations
  • Partner with Data Stewards, Legal, Risk, Information Security, and Privacy teams to address governance and access requirements
  • Drive data literacy and adoption through communications, training, enablement, and embedded user feedback
  • Maintain a clear, prioritized backlog aligned with the data product strategy and roadmap, including writing and refining user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Determine which work is ready for delivery and validate that completed work meets agreed requirements
  • Lead team meetings and sprint reviews, identifying dependencies, risks, and impediments and driving their resolution

ABOUT YOU

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, plus 7+ years of progressive experience
  • 7+ years of experience in data product management, product ownership, analytics, business intelligence, data strategy, or data management
  • Demonstrated experience owning data products or data capabilities from discovery through adoption and continuous improvement
  • Experience with agile/Scrum development and managing backlogs, requirements, and delivery across multiple workstreams
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, data pipelines, data quality, metadata, lineage, governance, and business intelligence concepts
  • Exceptional ability to bridge technical and business communication and influence senior business stakeholders and technical teams
  • Experience shaping requirements and leading projects amid ambiguity, dependencies, and competing priorities
  • High performance standards, as demonstrated through academic or previous professional experience

Nice to have:

  • Product Owner, Scrum, or SAFe certification
  • Experience in professional services, consulting, knowledge management, research, or enterprise data platforms
  • Familiarity with Databricks, Snowflake, dbt, Power BI, Tableau, APIs, data catalogs, and semantic models
