Senior Android Developer

We now have a new requirement and are looking for a consultant colleague with the qualifications listed below. The position is part of our consulting business, which means you will be employed by us and work either with clients or on internal projects and assignments.

Your Profile (Must-have requirements)

• Several years of professional mobile development experience, including substantial senior-level experience

• Proven ability to take technical ownership of a production mobile application

• Ability to make pragmatic architectural decisions and explain the reasoning behind them.

• Comfortable identifying technical debt and distinguishing between issues that should be addressed immediately, incrementally or deliberately left alone.

• Able to lead technical improvements without requiring a large rewrite.

• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, particularly in mature applications with legacy code and historical architectural decisions.

• Comfortable challenging existing technical decisions and ways of working constructively.

• Kotlin, Jetpack Compose and traditional Views, Coroutines and Flow

• Modern Android architecture, dependency injection, Gradle build configuration/optimisation

• Unit, integration and UI testing; lifecycle and platform APIs

• Google Play Console/release management, CI/CD, crash & performance analysis

• Trunk-based development or similar short-lived-branch models; keeping main continuously releasable

• Small, incremental pull requests and frequent integration

• Feature flags or equivalent techniques for integrating incomplete functionality safely

• CI/CD for mobile applications; automated build, test and quality checks

• Automated or highly streamlined App Store / Google Play delivery; separating deployment from release

• Versioning, release management, rollback and hotfix strategies

• Establishing appropriate automated testing; safely and incrementally refactoring legacy code

• Constructively challenging existing technical decisions and ways of working

• Mentoring and supporting existing mobile developers; pairing rather than taking over difficult tasks

• Giving useful, constructive code-review feedback

• Feature-flag platforms and progressive delivery tooling

• Automated release tooling such as Fastlane or equivalent

• Mobile observability, crash reporting and application performance monitoring

• Modularisation of larger mobile applications

• API design and collaboration with backend teams

• Security and privacy considerations for consumer applications

• Accessibility

• Working with connected devices, energy products, IoT or other systems involving physical assets

• Leading technical improvements in a team without formal personnel responsibility

• Experience modernising an established Android application incrementally, incl. migration toward Compose
