The Role
As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will contribute throughout the product development lifecycle – from software architecture and low-level implementation to integration, verification and release.
You will work close to the hardware and collaborate daily with software, hardware, FPGA and system engineers. The role offers a mix of hands-on development, problem solving, debugging and system-level thinking.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Develop low-level software and embedded system components
- Work with Embedded Linux and RTOS in resource-constrained and performance-critical systems
- Develop and integrate networking functionality in embedded systems
- Build, customize and maintain embedded Linux
- Collaborate closely with hardware, FPGA and system engineers during development and integration
- Debug complex software/hardware issues and troubleshoot at system level
- Contribute to automated testing, development tools and continuous improvement of software processes
About You
We are looking for an engineer who enjoys understanding how things work all the way down to the system level. You are comfortable working close to hardware and are motivated by solving complex technical problems. At the same time, you are passionate about agile development and helping the team become better, and enjoy combining technical depth with an interest in Scrum, methodology and team development.
You likely have:
- A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Professional experience in embedded software development
- Strong programming skills in C and C++
- Experience with Embedded Linux and/or RTOS
- Experience with low-level programming, embedded networking and debugging
- Experience developing secure embedded software and applying cybersecurity requirements in accordance with IEC 62443
- A structured, analytical and solution-oriented approach to problem solving
- Good communication skills in English
It's a Plus If You Have
- Experience with Rust in embedded or systems programming
- FPGA development experience
- Experience developing automated tests or automated test systems
- Experience with CI/CD, continuous integration or software quality processes
- Experience working with industrial, power electronics, control systems or other hardware-near applications
Why Join Us?
At Comsys, you won't be developing software in isolation. You will work at the intersection of software, electronics, FPGA and system engineering, contributing to products that solve real industrial challenges.
You will have the opportunity to take ownership, work across the technology stack and develop your expertise in embedded systems, Linux, real-time software and hardware integration.
If you are an Embedded Software Engineer who enjoys C/C++, Linux, RTOS, low-level development and working close to hardware, we'd like to hear from you.
