We are looking for a Senior Java Engineer to develop and maintain backend services for distributed billing and account management systems.

The mandatory requirements are 4+ years of Java and Spring Boot experience, GraphQL with Netflix DGS or Apollo Java/Kotlin Client, event-driven systems, and strong Spring Data JPA and CI/CD experience.

MUST HAVES

- 4+ years of hands-on backend engineering with Java and Spring Boot 3, building production microservices.

- Senior level with demonstrated ownership of production services in a distributed-systems environment.

- Experience with GraphQL, either building APIs with Netflix DGS or consuming them via the Apollo Java/Kotlin client.

- Hands-on experience with event-driven, distributed systems using AWS SQS, Apache Kafka, or RabbitMQ.

- Strong JPA/Hibernate and Spring Data JPA experience with MySQL/Aurora, including transactional design and optimistic locking.

- Proficiency writing JUnit 5 unit tests with Mockito and integration tests against live environments.

- Experience with Gradle multi-module builds.

- Experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines.

- Experience with Datadog for metrics and monitors.

- Responsible use of AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude) to accelerate development while maintaining code quality and correctness.

- Upper-Intermediate English level.

NICE TO HAVES

- Prior experience in the Billing or Payments domain.

- Experience with DynamoDB (AWS SDK v2) and/or MongoDB (Spring Data) in a multi-store architecture.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Develop and maintain backend Java/Spring Boot services, contributing feature development, bug fixes, and reliability improvements across billing and account management services.

- Solve problems involving transactional consistency, event-driven correctness, notification reliability at scale, and safe multi-entity migrations for advertisers globally.

- Keep advertiser billing accounts accurate, compliant, and synchronized across multiple datastores (MySQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB) and external platforms (Zuora).

- Deliver production-ready features and bug fixes through GitLab CI, ensuring unit and integration test coverage meets JaCoCo quality gates.

- Strengthen system reliability through improved observability, resilience patterns, and safe canary and production deployments gated by Datadog monitors.
