Fullstack Developer - Video & Audio

Want to build video and audio products used by millions of people every day? Schibsted Media’s Video & Audio team develops the technology behind publishing, distributing and consuming video, live streams and podcasts across some of the largest news brands in the Nordics.

As a developer in the team, you’ll work on products and technology that are highly visible to our users from the video experience on VG and Aftonbladet, to streaming on VGTV and the podcast experience in Aftenposten.

What you'll work on

Our team owns the video and audio experience end to end. You’ll work on both user-facing products and the technology behind them, solving challenges across publishing, playback, ads and live streaming.

Depending on the project, you might be working on:

• Building and improving user-facing video and audio experiences

• Developing the services behind publishing, playback, ads and live streaming

• Working with video transcoding and large-scale media processing

• Improving how we process, enrich and use video and audio metadata

• Exploring AI capabilities such as speech-to-text and text-to-speech

• Building systems that need to perform reliably during major breaking news and live events

• Working closely with our newsrooms and product teams to shape what we build next

The team

The team consists of nine frontend, backend and fullstack developers, an Engineering Manager, Product Manager, UX Designer and Data Analyst. We work closely across disciplines, with developers involved in both shaping solutions and deciding how our technology evolves. The team is spread across Oslo and Kraków, but we meet regularly in person to collaborate, share knowledge and spend time together as a team.

Who we're looking for

We’re looking for a developer who enjoys solving both product and technical challenges. You should be comfortable working with Node.js and TypeScript. Experience across the full stack is valuable, but you don’t need to know every technology we use from day one.

It’s a plus if you have experience with, or an interest in:

• Relational databases such as MySQL

• Redis or Elasticsearch

• AWS Media Services

• Video technologies such as HLS or FFmpeg

• Infrastructure and operations

• AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or other agentic coding tools

You don’t need to be a video expert when you join. What matters more is that you’re curious, enjoy learning and want to build products for millions of users.
