Senior Java /Python Developer Back End

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Java / Python Developer Back End based in Brazil.

This is a senior backend engineering role focused on building and evolving high-scale, resilient, and secure systems in a cloud environment. You will take ownership across the full engineering lifecycle, from design and coding through testing, monitoring, and operations. The role combines strong Java and Python expertise with distributed systems, microservices, messaging, and data persistence. You will contribute to critical APIs and services while helping raise engineering quality across the team. A strong focus on AI-enabled development workflows creates opportunities to improve productivity and delivery quality. You will work in a technically challenging environment where problem solving, collaboration, and technical leadership are highly valued.

Accountabilities:

• Design, develop, test, monitor, and operate critical backend services across the complete end-to-end software lifecycle in cloud environments.

• Build scalable and resilient APIs, microservices, and distributed systems capable of supporting complex workloads and high availability requirements.

• Apply strong engineering practices around concurrency, data consistency, automated testing, security, and production reliability.

• Work with asynchronous communication and event-driven architectures using technologies such as SQS, SNS, RabbitMQ, Kafka, or similar platforms.

• Design and optimize relational and NoSQL data solutions, ensuring appropriate performance, scalability, and reliability.

• Integrate AI-powered tools and capabilities into development workflows to improve engineering productivity, code quality, and delivery outcomes.

• Serve as a senior technical reference within the team, contributing to architectural decisions and helping solve complex technical challenges.

• Collaborate effectively with technical stakeholders, communicate architectural and engineering concepts clearly, and contribute to continuous improvement.

• Support observability and operational excellence through monitoring, troubleshooting, and improvements to system reliability and performance.

Requirements:

• Solid professional experience developing backend applications with Java and Python, including strong familiarity with their ecosystems and frameworks such as Spring Boot, Django, or FastAPI.

• Strong knowledge of distributed systems and microservices architecture, including practical experience with concurrency and data consistency.

• Hands-on experience with asynchronous messaging and event-driven architectures using SQS, SNS, RabbitMQ, Kafka, or similar technologies.

• Advanced experience with relational databases and SQL, as well as NoSQL technologies, including data modeling and performance optimization.

• Strong understanding of automated testing, secure coding practices, and security considerations throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively on complex technical challenges.

• Strong technical communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain solutions and decisions clearly to different audiences.

• Experience with frontend frameworks, particularly React, is a plus.

• Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog, New Relic, or Grafana is desirable.
