TECH LEAD: JAVASCRIPT DEVELOPER

We are looking for an experienced Tech Lead: JavaScript Developer to join a high-performing technology environment and play a key role in the design, development and evolution of modern, scalable enterprise applications.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role for an experienced full-stack engineer who can work confidently across Angular, Java, cloud-native technologies, APIs and microservices, while contributing to architecture, engineering standards and technical direction.

The ideal candidate will bring 8+ years of professional development experience, preferably within financial services, investment platforms or another regulated enterprise environment.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Full-Stack Software Development

• Design, develop and maintain high-quality Java and Angular applications across front-end and back-end layers.

• Build scalable, modular and maintainable enterprise solutions.

• Develop and integrate APIs, services and application components.

• Apply appropriate architecture and design patterns.

• Ensure solutions meet performance, security, resilience and scalability requirements.

Technical Leadership & Architecture

• Provide hands-on technical leadership across development initiatives.

• Contribute to solution architecture and technical design decisions.

• Produce and maintain technical design and architecture documentation.

• Interpret and apply UML models and technical design artefacts.

• Promote development standards, engineering best practices and coding guidelines.

• Influence the long-term evolution of application platforms and technology solutions.

Cloud, Microservices & Integration

• Work with AWS and cloud-native technologies.

• Design and develop microservices and distributed applications.

• Work with Docker, CI/CD and DevOps practices.

• Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and web services.

• Work with synchronous and asynchronous integration and messaging patterns.

Engineering Quality

• Define and implement effective unit and integration testing strategies.

• Apply strong coding practices focused on quality, maintainability and testability.

• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and production defects.

• Use automation and testing practices to improve solution stability.

• Incorporate operational feedback and user insights into continuous improvement.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

• Analyse application behaviour, platform metrics and technology trends.

• Identify opportunities to improve performance, scalability and reliability.

• Evaluate emerging technologies and development practices.

• Propose innovative technical solutions aligned to business and customer requirements.

Collaboration & Technical Mentoring

• Work closely with technical and business stakeholders.

• Clearly communicate technical options, risks, constraints and trade-offs.

• Collaborate across development, architecture, infrastructure and other technology teams.

• Coach and mentor developers and contribute to the growth of the engineering team.

Production, Risk & Security

• Support production environments and resolve complex defects.

• Identify technical and delivery risks proactively.

• Apply secure development principles and application security controls.

• Ensure compliance with relevant technology standards and operational controls.

• Contribute to technology roadmaps and broader IT strategy.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

• 8+ years' professional experience in Java and JavaScript development.

• Strong experience delivering enterprise-grade applications across front-end and back-end environments.

• Proven experience with Angular and Java/Spring Boot.

• Experience with microservices, APIs and modern integration architectures.

• Strong exposure to AWS and cloud-native development.

• Experience within financial services, investment platforms or another regulated enterprise environment is highly advantageous.

• Relevant Java and/or JavaScript certifications would be advantageous.
