Senior Java Engineering Lead - Market Ops Data Platform

The Java Engineering Lead - Market Ops Data Platform is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a set of engineering scrum team to implement a next generation microservice based data management platform. The overall objective of this role is to drive applications systems analysis. architecture and engineering activities.

 

Responsibilities:

• Manage multiple teams of professionals to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for team (e.g. performance evaluations, hiring and disciplinary actions)
• Provide strategic influence and exercise control over resources, budget management and planning while monitoring end results
• Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards
• Integrate in-depth knowledge of applications development with overall technology function to achieve established goals
• Provide evaluative judgement based on analysis of facts in complicated, unique, and dynamic situations including drawing from internal and external sources
• Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions, as well as communicate with external parties as necessary
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

 

Recommended Qualifications:

• 15+ years of relevant experience
• Experience in java spring boot microservice development
• Strong architecture and coding skills
• Experience in engineering management
• Experience in AI augmented delivery
• Experience managing global technology teams
• Working knowledge of financial services
• Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
• Master’s degree preferred

As Chief Engineer for the Market Ops Data Platform you lead the business analysis, architecture, project management and engineering functions for the platform. You will be primarily focused on

• Evolving the architecture of the platform to meet new business needs
• Evolving the developer experience for teams adopting the services offered by the platform to make it as simple as possible to adopt and enhance their usage
• Support other MOT teams in adopting the platform as effectively and efficiently as possible.
• Implementing working practices that ensure the platform is always up to date with security patches
• Ensuring that the platform engineering applies modern engineering practices including BDD. TDD. Trunk Based Development, CI and CD and blue green deployments
• Ensuring the quality of the code is maintained through correct application of design patterns, a focus on applying SOLID principles and ensuring the code is self documenting
• Applying AI augmented delivery practices to increase the safety and speed of delivery
• Ensuring automated operational processes are in place to manage routine maintenance to the data stores in the platform
