Business Analyst

POSITION OBJECTIVE

The SAP FICO Business Analyst acts as a key liaison between Finance business stakeholders and IT, responsible for capturing, analyzing, documenting and managing application requests, incidents and enhancement opportunities related to SAP Finance and Controlling processes.

This role provides first-level (L1) support for SAP Finance applications, ensuring timely resolution of incidents and service requests while driving continuous improvement initiatives. The position is accountable for ensuring that proposed solutions align with business strategies, comply with global IT standards, architecture and governance, and follow best practices to deliver scalable, secure and value-driven outcomes.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Act as the primary point of contact for Finance business users to capture SAP application requests across regions.
• Act as SAP FICO functional expert supporting Finance business processes globally.
• Analyze business needs to identify real problems, objectives and value drivers.
• Challenge and refine requests to ensure alignment with business strategy and IT roadmaps.
• Translate business requirements into clear functional requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Ensure requirements are complete, consistent, traceable and prioritized.
• Propose functional solutions aligned with approved tools, platforms and enterprise architecture standards.
• Assess solution options considering value, scalability, cost, risk and global reuse.
• Ensure solutions comply with IT governance, security, data and compliance policies.
• Collaborate with other IT technical teams to validate feasibility and design choices.
• Balance global standardization with regional business needs.
• Analyze, configure and troubleshoot SAP Finance and Controlling processes including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Banking, Cost Centers, Profit Centers and Internal Orders.
• Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing activities ensuring system availability and process continuity.
• Analyze and maintain integrations between SAP Finance and other SAP modules including Materials Management (MM), Sales & Distribution (SD) and Production Planning (PP).
• Act as Level 1 (L1) support for application incidents and service requests logged in ServiceNow.
• Perform initial analysis, troubleshooting and resolution of application-related issues.
• Accurately classify, prioritize and document tickets according to ITSM processes.
• Ensure timely resolution of tickets within defined SLAs.
• Escalate tickets to Level 2/3 support with complete analysis and context when required.
• Identify recurring incidents and contribute to root cause analysis and problem management.
• Propose corrective and preventive actions to reduce incident recurrence.
• Create and maintain knowledge articles, troubleshooting documentation and support procedures.
• Create, maintain and review Business Requirement Documents (BRD), Functional Specifications, Gap Analysis and Solution Design documentation.
• Evaluate business requirements and identify standard SAP capabilities versus custom development needs.
• Collaborate with development and integration teams to define technical requirements and interface solutions.
• Support testing activities including unit testing, integration testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Contribute to functional test cases and validate delivered solutions against business requirements and expected outcomes.
• Participate in SAP enhancement, deployment, transformation and continuous improvement projects.
• Support deployment and post-go-live stabilization activities.
• Understand and support SAP integrations with external systems through technologies such as IDocs, BAPIs and RFCs.
• Ensure traceability between business requests, incidents, solutions and releases.
• Communicate clearly with business users regarding ticket status, resolution and next steps.
• Act as a trusted partner between business, IT delivery teams and support teams.
• Facilitate workshops, requirement refinement sessions and solution reviews when needed.
• Support governance forums by preparing documentation, impact analysis and solution summaries.
• Ensure Finance solutions comply with BRP governance, security standards and enterprise architecture principles.
• Follow BRP values and behaviors.
• Ensure a safe working environment and take full accountability for all safety-related topics.
• Enforce BRP Quality Policy.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Core SAP FICO Knowledge

• Strong experience with SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA Finance.
• Deep understanding of:• General Ledger (G/L)
• Accounts Payable (AP)
• Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Bank Accounting
• Asset Accounting (AA)

• Controlling (CO):• Cost Centers
• Profit Centers
• Internal Orders

• Ability to navigate, configure and troubleshoot SAP Implementation Guide (SPRO).
• Experience with month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing processes.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in SAP Finance environments.

Cross-Module Integration Knowledge

• Understanding of account determination (OBYC) for Goods Receipt, Invoice Verification and Inventory Valuation (MM-FI Integration).
• Experience with revenue account determination (VKOA) for billing and revenue recognition processes (SD-FI Integration).
• Knowledge of Production Order settlement and costing processes (PP-FI Integration).
• Understanding of end-to-end financial impacts across integrated business processes.

Technical System Design & Architecture

• Understanding of SAP integrations with external systems through IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs and interfaces.
• Experience documenting Business Requirements and Business Justifications.
• Ability to create Functional Specifications and Solution Design Documents.
• Experience preparing Gap Analysis documentation, including assessment of standard SAP capabilities versus custom developments.
• Knowledge of IT Project Artifacts and Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a SAP FICO Business Analyst, SAP FICO Functional Consultant or equivalent role.
• Experience supporting global SAP Finance processes within ECC and/or S/4HANA environments.
• Proven experience gathering business requirements, documenting functional specifications and supporting implementation projects.
• Experience in incident management, troubleshooting and IT support processes.
• Strong understanding of finance processes, accounting principles, internal controls and financial reporting requirements.
• Experience working in multinational and cross-functional environments.
• Advanced English communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

• SAP S/4HANA Finance experience.
• SAP FI and/or CO Certification.
• Experience in manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of Treasury, Group Reporting or Central Finance processes.
• Familiarity with IFRS and global financial compliance requirements.
• Experience supporting global transformation or ERP deployment projects.
