Full description

DeltaQuad develops advanced VTOL UAV systems for defence, public safety and commercial operators worldwide. Behind every flight is a complex combination of software, electronics, hardware and communication systems that need to work seamlessly together.

We’re looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer who enjoys that complexity. Someone who doesn’t just write code, but wants to understand how it behaves on the actual hardware and ultimately in the air.

The role

As an Embedded Software Engineer, you’ll develop and improve the software at the heart of our UAV platforms.

Our software runs across multiple aircraft, hardware configurations and product variants. Your challenge is to make sure it remains reliable, scalable and maintainable as our technology and fleet continue to evolve.

You’ll primarily work in C++ and collaborate closely with Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering and our R&D Test & Flight team. Testing is a big part of how we work: from Software-in-the-Loop (SITL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) to validating your work on an actual aircraft.

What you’ll do

  • Develop and maintain embedded software for our UAV platforms, primarily in C++.
  • Build software that works reliably across different hardware configurations and product variants.
  • Work at the intersection of software, electronics, sensors, actuators and communication systems.
  • Collaborate with Electrical, Systems and R&D Test & Flight teams.
  • Develop and improve SITL, HITL, automated and regression testing.
  • Validate designs and debug complex software/hardware integration issues.
  • Contribute to software architecture, CI/CD and configuration management.
  • Take ownership of technical projects and help drive them from idea to validated solution.

What you bring

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Embedded Systems or a related field.
  • Around 5–7+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
  • Strong professional experience with C++.
  • Experience developing embedded software that interacts with electronics and hardware.
  • Experience with software running across multiple devices, hardware versions or product configurations.
  • The ability to understand complex systems beyond your own area of expertise.
  • Experience with testing, validation, debugging and regression testing.
  • A hands-on and structured approach to solving problems.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Professional proficiency in English.

Nice to have

Experience with PX4, ArduPilot, MAVLink, embedded Linux, Python or Rust is a plus. So is a background in UAVs, robotics, autonomous systems, aerospace or other technically complex products.

What success looks like

You understand that embedded software never operates in isolation. A software change can affect electronics, communications, flight behaviour and ultimately the performance of the entire aircraft.

You enjoy moving between code, simulation, hardware and flight testing. And when something doesn’t behave as expected, you’re the kind of engineer who wants to find out why.

What we offer

  • Work on advanced UAV technology with real-world applications.
  • Plenty of technical ownership and room to influence how our platform develops.
  • Close collaboration between Software, Electrical, Systems and Test & Flight Engineering.
  • Coaching and professional growth opportunities.
  • 27 vacation days based on full-time employment.
  • A 38-hour workweek with flexible working hours.
  • €0.25/km travel reimbursement or full reimbursement of second-class public transport.
  • An excellent pension scheme through PME.
  • Lunch at DeltaQuad, monthly team drinks and regular team activities.
  • An open and informal culture where your ideas and expertise are valued.

Please note: As part of our recruitment process, we may request a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) and conduct a background screening in accordance with our screening policy.
